My family of 4 had to cancel our vacation in June. We each had 6 day park hoppers which will now expire in Sep 2021. I'm hopeful 4 of us can go next summer but who knows with covid and also schedules since my kids are young adults? in the meantime my daughter and I are going to do a long weekend in October and need 3 day tickets. Should we make park reservations on the 6 day tickets and ask if we can get a refund on the remaining 3 days and hopper? (not sure if that is a possibility). Or, purchase 3 day tickets and save the 6 day tickets to hopefully use next year? (also not sure if THAT is a possibility b/c we are linked in MDE and I don't know if you can link more than one ticket at a time?) Help! would like to make park reservations ASAP since we have hotel booked. Days are open as of now though and so are the weeks surrounding.

You can make park reservations immediately because you have the 6-day tickets. A ticket is required to make a park reservation, but that reservation is not "tied" to any specific ticket. Then I would buy a new 3-day ticket for Oct. (Yes, you can have more than one ticket on MDE.)

WDW will refund the hopper if that isn't available when you go, but I wouldn't count on a refund for the extra 3 days if you partially use the 6-day tickets, and if you can't then use those remaining days before 9/26/21 they will expire. A completely unused ticket will retain value towards a future ticket even after expiration. So if you don't end up using the 6-day next summer, you'll still have the credit.

I really just can't thank you enough for all of this great advice. I was about to have a dumb moment and ask "how will they know which ticket to use when I scan my magic band, but then realized we now buy tickets by date. I really do appreciate you replying so quickly, as soon as I read your advice I went in and made the park reservations :)

Just make sure you have the tickets in the in the proper priority order. You should be able to do this in your MDE account. If not, check with guest services prior to entering the park.

Good advice. FWIW, there isn't the option to do this in MDE. At least there wasn't in mine. But guest services was easily able to make our new tickets the priority ones, and put our no-expiration, park-hopper tickets on the back burner.

One day I'm going to use those babies and marvel at the savings! ;-)
