Hi everyone. We will be making our first family trip to WDW this coming Thanksgiving (we check in the Friday before Thanksgiving and check out the Saturday after)

My 180 day mark will be coming up next month and I am working on my ADR's. We are a family of four, mom, dad, DS8 and DD6, staying at the WL and will be on the dining plan.

Here is what I have planned for restaurants, I would love people's opinion:

day 1 (AK day) dinner at Boma

day 2 (MK day) dinner at Chef Mickeys

day 3 (MGM day) dinner at Sci Fi (decided to do this and wait in line for Fantasmic, rather than one of the Fantasmic packages, because we want to eat at Sci Fi)

day 4 (Epcot day) dinner at Coral Reef

day 5 (free day) breakfast at CRT (just me and dd, will pay oop) dinner at Beaches and Cream

day 6 (MK day) breakfast at CP, dinner at WCC

day 7 (AK day and Thanksgiving) dinner at Hoop De Doo (will pay oop)

day 8 (free day) dinner at Le Cellier

I was looking for a good mix of restaurants for food and ones for atmosphere, and also some that would please the kids and some that would please the adults.

We are planning on doing CS for lunches, and either using snack credits for breakfast, or already having stuff in the room.

The restaurants I am iffy with are Boma and Sci Fi.

We want to do Sci Fi, but am not sure if it is worth passing up on the Fantasmic package to do it. That is a busy week, but we are doing it the Sunday before Thanksgiving, so I was thinking it might not be as crowded as later on in the week. I figured I could sit and hold our spot in line for an hour or so, while DH and the kids go do something.

And Boma. We basically picked it because we are doing the AK that day (our first day) and it will be convenient. I want to get to bed early that night, so I thought, we leave AK at 5, go to AKL and eat at 5:30, then we could be back to the room and hopefully in bed by 9:00 at the latest (that includes unpacking and baths for the kids). Plus it gives us a chance to see the AKL. But we are not adventurous eaters. We aren't terribly picky, but I'm a little nervous. Is the food there really different? My biggest worry is I would hate for our first TS meal to be a bummer. I figure we can always just fill up on zebra domes :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anyway, sorry for the long post. I would love to hear people's opinions.

They all sound good, we LOVED boma, every restaurant gets mixed reviews from people who love it, hate it or are indifferent but we all have different tastes so you have to try for yourself i figure, in Boma there was lots of choices for kids and adults, for example my son a picky eater ate a ton of prime rib and not much else but got his moneys worth lol i stuck with the almond crusted salmon which was beautiful and tried little bits of everything else which was the great thing about the buffet then went back and got more of what we liked, we loved the lodge and going outside after dinner to see the animals , have a wonderful trip

Hey from cinci! I really enjoyed Bomas, my husband not so much. THey do have regular food there like prime rib and chicken with african sauces you can put on the side to try. They do have very authentic things and the great thing is that it is a buffet you can stick to what you know or try to be adventureous. The kids section is great and has all the basics. The dessert section is beautiful and will please everyone! Have fun!:)

We just did Boma in April and liked it a lot. There are some different things to eat but I didn't think anything was really wild and the good thing is there is a lot to choose from so don't worry if you don't like everything, there should still be plenty you will. And AKL is worth checking out. It's now on our list of places we want to stay because of that visit. :) BTW, we liked the zebra domes but didn't quite get why so many people rave about them.

We've been to Sci-Fi 3 times and like it a lot though I have to admit it's not because the food is very special. It's decent enough but there's just something about the atmosphere we really enjoy. That said we're going again in August and this will be the first time in a few years we're not planning on going there since it's time to try some other things, too. We've done Fantasmic the last two Easter breaks and 2006 we waited for about 30 minutes and had our pick of just about any seat and 2007 we went right at gate opening and were stuck in standing room only. So I'd recommend waiting at least a half hour - keep an eye on when people start lining up and hit the shops nearby or TOT or RNR with some FastPasses.

Chef Mickey's - never had dinner there but we did do breakfast a few years ago - really enjoyed the characters and the food was decent (I'm not a big breakfast person so that's saying something)

Le Cellier - we have ADRs for August and am really looking forward to trying it
Beaches and Cream - we're going in August since we're staying at the Beach Club this time - plan to pay oop since it seems too cheap of a place to use our credits on

Coral Reef - never been but we love the view of the giant aquarium from the Seas side so the atmosphere will be nice

CRT - never been - fyi we did do the Princess dinner in Epcot/Norway and my DD11 and DD5 loved it - it doesn't have the WOW factor of being in the castle but there were 5 princesses (Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine).

WCC, Hoop De Doo - never been - we tried to fit WCC into our upcoming trip to check out WL so if something else falls through that may be a fallback for us.
