Ok.. looking for some opinions here...We are cruising June 7, 2011 on Disney Dream for the 5 night double dip cruise. Kids are wanting to go to the Atlantis Aquaventure while in Nassau DH and I aren't so sure it is really worth the expense. So was reading some of the other posts and someone suggested saving the money and going to one of the Disney waterparks. And looking into it we could extend our vacation for a day or two and go to the Disney waterpark. So looking for others who have done one or the other and let us know what they thought.

Thanks !!!

We just went to Typhoon Lagoon 3 weeks ago and I just have one word to say about it....AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!! we had the BEST time I have ever had at a water park and I am a florida native so I have been to alot..My DS9 had the best day ever..that is a quote...lol..I would save your money and go to Typhoon Lagoon when you get back. You won't regret it :)

Never been to Atlantis waterpark (only casino!) but have been to Typhoon Lagoon and thought it was a lot of fun. Since the kids having nothing to compare it to and you're able to afford this better, I vote for Typhoon Lagoon.

I'd go to Atlantis...we went to TL earlier this year...our group ranged from mid 40's to 14...while TL is beautifully themed, we found the water slides to be very BORING.

We got off the family tube slide...which went so slow it would not even slide up the walls of the slide...and only lasted maybe 30 seconds...looked at each other and all said "that's it?"

You've got to remember that due to the age of TL, the water slides "technology" is very dated...with the exception of the Crush'n Gusher Coaster...which Disney had to install to try and keep the park somewhat current. The swim with the shark thing is also pretty cool (literally).

The slides at TL are basically painted concrete troughs...not the slick fiberglass/plastic found in any modern waterpark.

TL in a nutshell: very pretty park...very mild, boring rides...only ride which offers any thrills is the Crush'nGusher water coaster. The wave pool is very intense, maybe even too intense for little ones.

I really really wanted to like TL, but the comments above are an honest review of the park.

We've walked around the Atlantis grounds but haven't participated. I think for what they charge, I'd much rather go to TL or BB. The pools are beautiful and the slide that goes through the shark tank looks cool but not for what they charge! My kids enjoed the beach (Cabbage beach?) for the price of a taxi ride.

We went to both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon for the first time this past May...all our other trips to WDW have been in Dec/Jan so it's been too cold for water parks or they were closed...anyhow...

We LOVED both waterparks, TL especially. We are a family of 4, 2 adults, a DD age 19 and a DD age 8. These parks were fun for everyone - tough to do sometimes with such a wide gap in children's ages. I think it would be neat to see Atlantis, but for the money they charge for that excursion, I'd rather apply it to a longer cruise or do like you are and go to the Disney waterparks.

Depends on your kids ages. Atlantis is awesome if they are old enough to really enjoy the water rides. On the other hand, if you don't want to pay the money for Atlantis, you might consider Sea World's Aquaventure rather than TL or BB. It is new and a really great water park. We like it much better than TL and BB.

A family of 4 can save a lot on Atlantis by doing the Comfort Suites option. Just search the board if you want more information on CS.

I would do TL. I have done the Atlantis waterpark as well as BB and TL. We had fun at Atlantis, but I don't think it is worth the money. You will have a great time at TL!

I have a friend who has stayed at the Atlantic and her thoughts were "it's a couple of slides and a lazy river"..not worth the money in her opinion. On our recent cruise there were 2 other cruise ships in port that day and people that did the Atlantis Adventure said it was VERY crowded..so that is also something to consider.

I would say, TL. I have been to Atlantis, way over prices and way too long of a wait for any of the slides. Won't be back to that one. Now, I will say that I much prefer BB over TL. If you have young kids the wave pool at TL is wicked. It is very strong and the bottom of the pool is rough. The waves are so strong that I have seen grown women and med get knocked over at knee deep and fall on top of a child.

don't do atlantis. Go to the beach next to Atlantis. It's beautiful, the water is gorgeous! Save the money and extend your vacation, for sure!

We loved Atlantis(how my kids got me to book a cruise next year) but to me it is not really anything comparable to a water park. It is more of a lush, tropical resort, with yes, some great slides, unbelievable pools, fantastic architecture, beautiful beaches, just a plush experience. So I guess it is what you are looking for. If you are looking for a unique resort and something you many not be able to find again, then go to Atlantis. If you are really just wanting to spend a day at a water park, then go to Typhoon Lagoon.

I just stayed at Atlantis in August...and just so happened to be getting in a cab with another family who was heading back to the DCL ship and we started chatting (ended up we were both DVCmembers)...

...the overall opinion from our family and theirs was that Atlantis was not worth the money...

...crowded and overpriced are my two words to describe the place...on the otherhand my DD7 loved it and won't stop talking about the place. This is a kid that has been to Blizzard Beach not TL and has not spoken nearly half as much about it...

...I wouldn't reccoment Atlantis to anyone; however, maybe from a kids perspective things may seem different...

I haven't been to any water parks, but do any of the Orlando ones have anything like "The Currant" that's at Atlantis? How much does the Atlantis water park cost anyway? I was trying to find a price on their website, but couldn't find anything.

If you've got mid-teens or teenagers then Atlantis is wonderful. Thrilling slides that will take you through shark tanks, a lazy river that is awesome. Sorry, but is by far the best lazy river I've ever been on. We all loved it. I don't know when your cruise was, but when we went in Feb. there were no crowds at all. We rode the slides as often as we wanted with no waiting time.

I have no idea what the cost of the Atlantis water park is, but it must be less than the price of tickets to Typhoon Lagoon. Most of the objections to Typhoon Lagoon seem to be based on age. It is true that it is an older park.

Is there a reason you have to go to either the park in Nassau or a Disney one?
Aquatica, a Seaworld water park will be only just over 3 years old at the time of your trip. The cost of the tickets is comparable to the price of Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon tickets. There is a slide that goes though a Commerson's dolphin tank, comparable to the shark slide that Atlantis has. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative but want more modern ride tech, this might be the compromise you are looking for.

I agree on Aquatica. We like it much more than the Disney water parks. Newer, great slides, etc. Atlantis has more in terms of all the pools plus the Dig is incredible but if you want to save money, I would choose Aquatica over Typhoon Lagoon any day.
