Well, lately, I've been reading lots of good news about DISers winning amazing contests or getting amazing opportunities, so I feel like the pixie dust must really be working. So hopefully you can help me....

I need Clay Aiken.:(

Small request, I know, but if anyone can make this happen, it's my pals at the DIS.

Here's the story in a nutshell:

Clay, as tri-state fans should know, is huge here. Tickets for his NY/NJ/CT shows sold out in under ten minutes each, and I was on the losing end of the busy signal while Ticketmaster sold MY tickets to other people. (No hard feelings if one of you was lucky enough to be on the buying end of that busy signal. :p ) I even took time off from work - TWICE - to devote my entire focus to the ticket buying process.

In addition to that, his shows at Good Morning America and CBS This Morning were both taped on the day of my aunt's wake. Needless to say, I couldn't make it to NY due to previous engagements. (I know it's pitiful to play the "death" card here, but I'm desparate.)

Because the venues are so tiny, I'm a bit discouraged about tickets becoming available, though I do intend to keep trying. In the meantime, I feel so helpless, and I'm looking for suggestions as to what kinds of longshots you guys would suggest. People to write to, places to beg, anything.

I spent the weekend writing essays for Plan B (yes, essays on Clay Aiken...it's really, really gotten pretty serious), and when I start writing essays to justify my need, it's really reached a point where it would just be more humane on everyone who has to deal with me for someone to just help me out.

Trust me. I did the same thing to convince friends it was time for a Disney vacation last year.

C'mon people!! A little ingenuity!! Let's work together here!!

(Love ya, mean it!!)

Well if you really want to go.....scalpers on the internet. I'm sure you can get tix for a price. DH and I once paid $180 each to see Springsteen in not so great seats. It was worth it.

Thanks for the wishes, guys.

And thanks for the tip, Kallison...unfortunately, that's already been an avenue I've explored. Scalpers are asking $700 per ticket, though. And I can't use two weeks pay to see Clay. I mean, I could . But I can't. My mother would kill me, and, even though that's a risk I'd normally be willing to take, it would really stink if she killed me BEFORE the concert. Otherwise, I wouldn't care.

Oh, and eBay....I've had my eye on eBay since Day 1. There have been some general admission pairs, but they've all gone for $700 and up - I saw one auction go up to atleast $1,100, and it wasn't even over yet. Today, I was "considering" a single ticket for $600. And it's not even on the stage or in Clay's lap like you'd expect it to be for that kind of money.

Other than that, not a whole lot even on auction. :(

I'm continuing to work on Plan B. I'm hoping that if I can write something clever enough and get something to read it, there could be a fluke of an opportunity waiting to happen.

Hopefully.

:wave2: Hi Kylene,
Sorry, no new ways to get the tickets. Just wanted to stop by and wish you the best of luck.

Any radio stations etc. in your area having contests for tickets etc. You might try that. Put an ad in a local paper where the concert will be held etc. Good luck. Make a spectacle of yourself with a sign etc. on a public street. You might get some attention. And maybe someone will take pity on you etc. Might get some local media attention etc. Guess it depends on how really desperate you are. Sometimes hotels close to the concert venue will have tickets availabe from the conceirge there, you might want to look into this.

Do you have any very rich friends? Some VERY exclusive credit cards come with a concierge service that can reportedly get tickets for any event, whether or not it's sold out. (sadly, the only card I know of for sure that offers this is the AmEx Centurion card, which is so exclusive that you have to be invited in order to apply, and rumor has it that there's only 1000 active cardholders in the world)

(no, I don't have the card. I've only heard about it from FatWallet ... and even then, it was 2nd or 3rd hand information)
