Operation Big Thunder: the Dole Whip Conspiracy COMPLETE

Im going to take a shot at this one...

Mission Log #16: Checkpoint Tango Lima Part Deux

...by saying that the "Part Deux" bit was referencing the title of the film:
Hot Shots Part Deux

at least thats about the time and reason that the phrase entrered into the common vernacular

Well...
the all day emergency meetings are about to start so Ill have to come back and quote this one latter on.
Great update though.

Really, really...

Glad to see that Sarah was doing better.
Im not surprised (given both the resilience of youngens and the magic of Disney), but Im glad to see it.

Back in a while (I hope...)

The look on Sarah's face in the picture after the wave is priceless!!! Talk about pure happiness!

I'm glad she was able to move on from the issues earlier.

I really wanted to try the lazy river at Beach Club in May, but since I'm not a big swimmer, I was scared out of my mind since it's really deep...not like any lazy river I've ever been on.

Now back to trying to find the lie since I believe I missed out on the movie quotes once again.

Great Update! Seems like you and your kids have a great relationship, it's especially nice to see such you with your daughter. She seems to love having fun with her dad!

Hi Mark. I'm Connie. I have lurked thru all of your TRs (and Glenn's and Barry's and many, many others) but I have found that when I start posting, I spend way too much time on the boards so I have learned to just read and move on. But, I finally found a movie quote that Glenn didn't get first so I had to chime in and say hello. :wave2:

Youth is wasted on the wrong people.

It's a Wonderful Life.

I really do enjoy your TRs very much and I can't wait to read more. :flower3:

Hey Mark... Great TL updates! I'm glad you were able to take lots of pictures in TL. I always hide the camera in waterparks. ::yes::

Glad Sarah was feeling better and the pictures really showed that! :thumbsup2

We still have 4 entries to the waterparks from our first Disney tickets. Maybe we will get to try one out someday. :goodvibes

Coming back to comment....

Yay, I'm glad that everyone has recovered from their earlier misadventures!

When you said that they don't close Typhoon Lagoon for rain, I was thinking "well, they do if there's lightning" and then saw that you found that out later.

Isn't Crush 'n Gusher awesome?! We loved that ride and wished that we'd gone on it earlier too.

Next up was Scotty. He had never been on a waterslide this big before, and as he came down the final turn, he was screaming, "Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!" and running his hands along the sides to slow himself down. I waited at the bottom and caught him, and then walked him out of the pool.

I'm gonna try the lie in this one. Scotty running his hands along the side is a veteran move. I don't think that was his first rodeo on a waterslide of that size...

She was dying to try the Crush 'n Gusher.

:cheer2: LOVE THIS RIDE!! It is AWESOME!!

Let me explain how we felt. No, there is too much. Let me sum up:

It. was. AWESOME!

That's what I just said! :cool1:

Easily our favorite ride in Typhoon Lagoon. We laughed the whole way down. Being dropped on the slide and then shot back up the hill was exhilarating. If we'd started on this early in the morning, I don't know if we'd ever have gotten off.

Typhoon.jpeg

Great picture! :thumbsup2

You run into all sorts of people who should never be allowed into a lazy river.
There's Klutzy Ken.
Then there's Panicky Patty
And there's Overprotective Olga

I'm pretty sure that these three have annual passes and live within walking distance to the waterpark.

Finally, there's the Idiot Teens (sorry, couldn't come up with an alliterative name for them)

Arrogant Adolescents? :confused3

Do they shut down the park for rain? Absolutely not! While many people were heading out at that point, we held to the philosophy that we were already wet, so bring on more slides!

THAT's a veteran Disney Strategy! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I really, really like this next picture:

101_0300.jpg

I can understand why. princess:

We grabbed our raft and quickly climbed the stairs for the Coconut Crusher, getting to the end when...
(cliffhanger) :scared:
...the P.A. system announced that lightning had been spotted and the park would be closing. We looked over at the CM to see if she'd let us go down the slide or make us walk back. She said to go ahead down the slide and then head straight out of the pool. So we completed our Crush 'n Gusher trifecta, giggling the whole way down.

Great that she let you ride and you got the trifecta! Not so great about the whole park closing thing.

It was mid-afternoon and we needed to head back to the room to change and get ready for dinner. We grabbed our stuff from the locker, and got our deposit back...only to spend it on the mini-donuts near the entrance.

Mmmm. Donuts...

I leave you with this public service announcement from Typhoon Lagoon:

101_0312.jpg

Can't argue that logic. :coffee: Great Update!

I could see that, too.:rotfl2:

I remember when I was at Blizzard Beach my brother decided to do the Summit Plummet. The wait for it was 60 minutes. I couldn't figure out why anyone would wait an hour in line for a 4-second (max) ride. :confused3
if you are going to brave that slide, take the sky lift up when the park opens and ride it right away...round trip less than 10 minutes and you will have the rest of the day to do other stuff.:thumbsup2

good update...i always loved those body slides as a kid. they were so much fun, and the long walk up wasnt bad as you were able to go over the slide many times at different points and have things to look at.

im going to say the lie was that he was indeed tall enough to ride and went on with you guys.
:)

Ok, I've tried about 3 times since yesterday to do a typical long multi-quote, sarcasm laced reply, but work keeps getting in the way.

I'm glad you were able to salvage the day and have fun despite the rain, but most importantly, I'm glad that Sarah recovered and seemed to have a great time despite your attempts to let her drown.

Christmas Story!

Great updates! I can't wait until DD is older and we can spend a day at one of the water parks. They look like such fun!

And, I've heard about those donuts. I must have some.

+2:thumbsup2 (1 for the KFC reference, and 1 for A Christmas Story)

The water parks are great. And you can never go wrong with donuts.

...rounded up the usual suspects = The Usual Suspects ?

Actually...no. Try again!

This is the vehicles top speed = Terminator

+1:thumbsup2

Missed it by that much = Get Smart

+1:thumbsup2

Reference to KFC commercials back when it was actually still called "Kentucky Fried Chicken"

Why did they change it to just the initials, anyway? That doesn't really make any sense.

Im going to take a shot at this one...

...by saying that the "Part Deux" bit was referencing the title of the film:
Hot Shots Part Deux

at least thats about the time and reason that the phrase entrered into the common vernacular

Got it!

+1:thumbsup2

A "Princess Bride" reference

+1:thumbsup2

Another "Christmas Story" reference

:confused3 Couldn't find that one.

Well...
the all day emergency meetings are about to start so Ill have to come back and quote this one latter on.
Great update though.

Really, really...

Glad to see that Sarah was doing better.
Im not surprised (given both the resilience of youngens and the magic of Disney), but Im glad to see it.

Back in a while (I hope...)

She was still in her element (i.e. water). She couldn't stay down forever. :goodvibes

BEST UPDATE EVER! And do you know why? Because your daughter was laughing and smiling again, which made you laugh and smile again.

We're still staying away from those slides with all those darn steps, but good to see the boys and Sarah joined you and that you had a great time.

I totally hear what you are saying about the Lazy River...although Mark still loves it and could spend hours in it.

Love the picture of you and Sarah coming down the slide and the one when the wave is about to hit.

The look on Sarah's face in the picture after the wave is priceless!!! Talk about pure happiness!

It's a much better look than the one I got after the shark reef. :scared1:

I'm glad she was able to move on from the issues earlier.

Me too! :goodvibes

I really wanted to try the lazy river at Beach Club in May, but since I'm not a big swimmer, I was scared out of my mind since it's really deep...not like any lazy river I've ever been on.

Oh, it's not so bad. The hardest part is getting into the tube!

Now back to trying to find the lie since I believe I missed out on the movie quotes once again.

Somebody's going to get it one of these days.

Great Update! Seems like you and your kids have a great relationship, it's especially nice to see such you with your daughter. She seems to love having fun with her dad!

I certainly hope so! My kids make it easy by being awesome. And yes, I'm biased.

Hi Mark. I'm Connie. I have lurked thru all of your TRs (and Glenn's and Barry's and many, many others) but I have found that when I start posting, I spend way too much time on the boards so I have learned to just read and move on.

Hi Connie! :wave2:

:welcome: and thanks for de-lurking! Please, don't be shy! You can get to know some awesome people here. I'm sure Glenn and Barry and the others would love to have you chime in on their TR's as well.

But I know what you mean about the time. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with the chatter!

But, I finally found a movie quote that Glenn didn't get first so I had to chime in and say hello. :wave2:

It's a Wonderful Life.

+1 :thumbsup2 Good work!

I really do enjoy your TRs very much and I can't wait to read more. :flower3:

Thank you! Thanks for reading my drivel. And I hope you'll stick around and comment--it's more fun when I know people are actually reading! :rotfl:

Hey Mark... Great TL updates! I'm glad you were able to take lots of pictures in TL. I always hide the camera in waterparks. ::yes::

Yeah, the camera thing is tough in the waterpark. You don't want it to get stolen, but you want to be able to take pictures. And then there's the threat of rain or other water dangers. The smaller waterproof camera seemed to be a good compromise.

Glad Sarah was feeling better and the pictures really showed that! :thumbsup2

BIG sigh of relief here.

We still have 4 entries to the waterparks from our first Disney tickets. Maybe we will get to try one out someday. :goodvibes

You'll love it! But there's definitely an argument for waiting until the kids are decent swimmers/tall enough for the slides.

Coming back to comment....

'preciate that, Clark.

Yay, I'm glad that everyone has recovered from their earlier misadventures!

Apparently waterslides cure all ills.

When you said that they don't close Typhoon Lagoon for rain, I was thinking "well, they do if there's lightning" and then saw that you found that out later.

It all started last year during a terrible thunderstorm, when I locked myself out of the house. Shielding myself with a large piece of sheet metal,
I ran for cover under the tallest tree I could find!

Isn't Crush 'n Gusher awesome?! We loved that ride and wished that we'd gone on it earlier too.

::yes::

Awesome ride. After that, Sarah and I had no desire to go on the other raft rides anymore. I'd like to seek out other water coasters now, actually.

I'm gonna try the lie in this one. Scotty running his hands along the side is a veteran move. I don't think that was his first rodeo on a waterslide of that size...

Fair enough. Keep in mind, though, that he was barely reaching the allowable heights for these slides.

:cheer2: LOVE THIS RIDE!! It is AWESOME!!

::yes:: :thumbsup2

That's what I just said! :cool1:

Is there an echo in here?

Great picture! :thumbsup2

:thanks:

I'm pretty sure that these three have annual passes and live within walking distance to the waterpark.

I guess it's inevitable anytime you put a large amount of people in one place. It just makes for a very stressful relaxing float trip.

Arrogant Adolescents? :confused3

Sure, that's better than anything I came up with.

THAT's a veteran Disney Strategy! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

It's not that tough of a call:

1. sit in car in parking lot.
2. ride waterslides.

I can understand why. princess:

:goodvibes

Great that she let you ride and you got the trifecta! Not so great about the whole park closing thing.

Not much we can do about the lightning. I was glad we'd at least gotten the chance to experience everything the park had to offer. The crowds still weren't bad. I think going on a Monday was a good call--most people who had arrived on the weekend were probably still attacking the theme parks.

Mmmm. Donuts...

drooling_homer-712749_gif.png.jpg

Can't argue that logic. :coffee: Great Update!

Thanks Mike!

if you are going to brave that slide, take the sky lift up when the park opens and ride it right away...round trip less than 10 minutes and you will have the rest of the day to do other stuff.:thumbsup2

Makes sense. I don't think I need to worry about it too much, though. :rotfl2:

good update...i always loved those body slides as a kid. they were so much fun, and the long walk up wasnt bad as you were able to go over the slide many times at different points and have things to look at.

Yeah, I thought it was really cool how they wound the slides through all the bridges, tunnels, etc. :thumbsup2

im going to say the lie was that he was indeed tall enough to ride and went on with you guys.:)

48"...6 years old...it's gonna be close!

Ok, I've tried about 3 times since yesterday to do a typical long multi-quote, sarcasm laced reply, but work keeps getting in the way.

So, in other words, you're just copping out.

I'm glad you were able to salvage the day and have fun despite the rain, but most importantly, I'm glad that Sarah recovered and seemed to have a great time despite your attempts to let her drown.

At least I let her wear the life jacket.

Oops, it was Casablanca

+1:thumbsup2

BEST UPDATE EVER! And do you know why? Because your daughter was laughing and smiling again, which made you laugh and smile again.

Thanks, Kathy. You know that saying "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy"? It goes for the kids, too. It pretty much covers everyone in the family except Dad, who nobody apparentely cares about. :rotfl2:

We're still staying away from those slides with all those darn steps, but good to see the boys and Sarah joined you and that you had a great time.

I wonder if they can retrofit the stairs with escalators.

I totally hear what you are saying about the Lazy River...although Mark still loves it and could spend hours in it.

As long as he's not racing the teens through it.

Love the picture of you and Sarah coming down the slide and the one when the wave is about to hit.

:thanks: It was great to see her having fun again!
