Opening the Disney Store--Keep the Key

Have you ever noticed the big key behind the register of the Disney Store? My daughter told one of the cast members at our local store that she thought they should make those to sell. Well....

Every morning the Disney Store opens with a big rope drop. They have a large lock of sorts on a pole where the ropes attach. The first person in line when the store opens gets to take that huge key and "open" the store. The ropes drop and music plays and lights go off in the store like fireworks.

The person who opens gets to keep a small replica of the key, about 4 inches long. My daughters opened together, but had to share one key. I am going to do it on my birthday.

We hung the key in the kitchen and everyone really enjoys looking at it.

My daughter got to open the Times Square Disney Store and got a green key replica about 4 inches long.

Our special guest, Julianne Mogle, turned the key that opens the Disney Store for the first time!!! She then got to keep a replica of that very key as a souvenier – a treat for a Disney-loving family that doesn’t live close to a store of their own.
