Opening day for Little League baseball is tomorrow.

Tomorrow is opening day for our town's kid's baseball league.

All of the kids and coaches meet at the high school and parade down to the fields together. They do a little ceremony, then throw the first pitch out.

I'm not sure why, but I always get choked up when I see them coming down the hill into the fields. It's just so Americana, I guess. (I nearly blubber when they play the Star Spangled Banner.)

Well, thank heaven for the nice weather that's being predicted. Last year's parade had to be cancelled because of rain.

It's opening day here too in NH.

No parade tho...they have a family fun day instead.

Can't wait!!!!! Let the games begin!!!

JerseyJanice, are you near Montvale? My nephew is in Montvale and he is so excited for his very first game tomorrow. I can't wait to see him play.

Our Little League just started too!! This is my son's first year (he's 8) His first game was Wednesday night and he got two hits and scored 2 runs. I was sooooo proud. He really needed that confidence booster.

There's nothing better than seeing their HUGE smile as they turn around on 1st base to look at you a smile with pride. Yikes--I'm starting to tear up--gotta go.

i absolutely LOVE to watch little league. the kids are always soo cute and funny because they get so into it. i would kill for one of their shirts that they wear with a number on the back. i love those shirts. i usually go to the salvation army and try to find them but usually they are gone as soon as they come in because they are popular around town. have fun i cant wait to watch the games by my grandma's house!!! (she lives by a park where they play)

oh I miss those days!

I went to a funeral for a 21 year-old yesterday. I don't think he played baseball with my younger DS, but he was a HS soccer teammate. It seemed odd to see all these guys at the funeral that I knew when they were 6!!
