My family is going the week after Thanksgiving so I have been watching to see what the hours and entertainment will be. So I see on Disneyland.com today that DLR is opening at 10am instead of 9am like it did last year. So staying onsite gives you a HUGE advantage this year because who wants to sit around every day until 10am to get into either of the parks. I am still not sure it is worth $1000 though. Sigh...:worried:

I looked back at last years hours and DLR was open from 9-8 and DCA was open 10-8 with Magic morning at DLR at 8am during the week days.

I saw this too, ive been waiting for this week so we could start planning our days since we go the week after Thanksgiving too and was so bummed when I saw the 10am opening! I do remember last year and the year before that was 9am. 10am seems late, since my family and I are early risers, especially on a Disney vacation! Bummer!

There will be early entrance each day at a different Park. But that is only 1 hour. nd you should really go the DCA on those mornings if you plan on going on Carsland rides as they get sld out on Fast Passes.

I'm disappointed too. We are staying on site so we'll get the extra hour in the morning, but with it being at 9 instead of 8, I imagine a lot more people will be taking advantage of it since you can sleep in and still make it.

But we will make do. I changed our Surf's Up Breakfast time to before the parks open to make up for it.

Are you talking about the weekend right after Thanksgiving or the following week? The weekend following Thanksgiving has the hours at 8am-midnight (at DL) and 8am-11pm (DCA). It isn't until the 26th that it changes to 10am.

I am talking about the 26th and on that week. Last year the hours for the weekdays the week after Thanksgiving was 9am with MM being 8am at DLR. Of course DCA was still only opening at 10 am with no EE available.

The extra hour might be a good time to catch a character meal, or go eat breakfast at the Rainforest Cafe (the Rainforest Cafe, imho, is an unknown gem for breakfast). Depending upon the hours they open that week, it also might be a good time to hit the Build-A-Bear workshop, or Ridemakerz.

I think the big question for you needs to be whether or not it's worth it to you.

We went the same week last year, and I could have sworn it was 10am. I actually prefer a later opening - I hate waking my kids up and rushing around on vacation!

I would LOVE not feeling like I'm missing out on anything in the Park if we got started a little later. That would be great!

The difference of staying onsite vs off is not JUST in the early entry. It's about staying at a Disney hotel vs. staying at a who-knows-who-runs-it motel across the street. IMO.

Here's the thing on that though...
Thanksgiving comes early this year. November 22nd. So the week after Thanksgiving is still November. Last year, Thanksgiving was November 24th. That means that the weekend after Thanksgiving was into December. You'll notice DL opens at 9am starting on December 2nd.

For whatever it's worth, it's only an hour. :goodvibes

we are going the week following Thanksgiving and I see that both parks are closing at 8 pm. Does anyone know if DTD stores and restaurants stay open later than that? My family are late owls so I was hoping we could at least eat after the parks close and hopefully do our shopping.
