It looks like IOA and US are opened till 10 this week... does that mean the rides are opened the entire time? I am just used to seeing the parks opened till 7, I think the Mardi Gras festival is the reason it is opened so long, but I could be wrong. I work 8 minutes away from Universal Studios and I plan to get an annual pass... but with it closing so late this week I may just buy the pass tonight or tomorrow night and go. So back to the question, are the rides opened till 10 or just the park?

Also, would it be strange for someone to go to a theme park by themselves? I live pretty far away from where I work, but I work so close to Universal, but I doubt I could get anyone to go with me since it is still a pretty long drive.

Oh, and one more question... would tomorrow night (friday night) be a bad time to go, crowd-wise?

Thanks.

When we were there last week all the rides that I can think of were running until closing.

I wouldn't think that it would be strange to be there alone. We kept running into one man who was in Orlando for a trade show and went to Dueling Dragons every morning by himself. He got to ride a lot more times than us since he was a single rider and seemed to be having a good time. When my kids were driving my crazy I only wished that I was there alone. ;)

We weren't there on a Friday night, but the nights that we were there were nice. Not many crowds either first thing in the morning or last thing at night. If IoA has fireworks make sure that you watch them from up close because the low fireworks were really unusual and wonderful.

I have been there a couple of times by myself. Although I miss seeing the smiles on my kids' faces when I go alone, it also allows me to do the stuff I want to do the most without hearing "but I want to go on....". The single rider lines are great, particularly on MIB.
Personally, I wish I was in your position. It's kind of tough making excuses too often to go to Orlando from here in Kansas ;)

At IOA the rollercoasters and Dr. Doom close about 10-15 minutes early due to the fireworks display. Most of the time they open back up after the "all clear" has been given by. At USF everything is open until 10pm.

Fireworks?

In a recent thread I read that there are no fireworks any more. I would like to see fireworks in summer with my kids.

I assume the 10pm closing is due to Mardi Gras - the Universal website shows 8pm closing for IOA and 7pm for US for our trip planned for the first weekend in June - this seemed kind of early to me - do they stay open later than posted?

No, that's about right for closing times. It wont get busy again till mid-June.

That's right, we did see Hulk running after closing when we were leaving the park.

I was surprised to see fireworks during spring break since I'd heard that they only had them linited times in the summer. They were very worth seeing of you happen to be there when they have them.

My 3yo refused to nap that day, however, and fell asleep about 1/2 hour before the fireworks started. He was not happy with all the noise from the fireworks, and I didn't have much sympathy since I wasn't happy with HIS noise when we were all trying to take a mid-day nap at the hotel... ;)
