Open University

Has/is anyone on here studying with the Open University? I'm about to complete my first course (a science short course) and am about to undertake my first biggie - Discovering Science. I'm getting really nervous as there's a lot more work involved and I don't know if I'll be able to handle it.

I'm working towards their open degree but currently plan to stick with science courses, I'm aiming for a BSc Hons.

None of it feels "real" as all my friends are going off to uni but I'm staying at home to do my learning.

And I'll stop rambling on now!

Yes, in my 4th year of a psychology degree with OU. Hard going for me though, especially this years course which is more biology based. The hardest part is finding the time as I work full time, have 2 kids blah blah blah!

I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.

I am just finishing my first course with the OU - beginners Spanish. I am hoping to study Spanish and French over the next few years.
Finding the time is definitely the hard bit but the way the year is divided up with Assessments makes keeping on track easier as you can never fall too far behind. I have just completed my written exam and taking the Oral next week so fingers crossed.
It is a great way to study in my opinion and makes it accessible to just about anyone. I have also found having an assigned tutor works well and gives you great support.

I am in my 6th (and final!) year doing a social science degree with social policy and politics. It is hard work but I've enjoyed almost every minute! Just a shame there are assignments and exams to do....

I'm sure you will be fine - the study groups, tutor and the First Class conferences are excellent and very supportive.
