Open Toed Shoes on rides

Everyday that I wear my Fit Flops, be in the parks, or using them everyday I take a risk of my toes being squished, flattened, and generally abused by footwear worn by other people. I've worn them during Halloween time at DL, and rarely were my feet hurt by strollers or other people. If they did get hurt, it was more because I accidentally walked into something (have no depth perception, and am a klutz by nature). This is a choice I choose to make, as the Fit Flops have reduced my back pain by 90% since I started wearing them almost 2 years ago. While I still have ongoing back problems, they have reduced it to the point where I can function with minimal pain, and for this reason I wear them. Footwear is a matter of personal choice, and it shouldn't matter what you wear for footwear in the parks so long as you are comfortable in them and this is the most important thing...comfort on the things that you are going to be pounding the pavement for miles on.

I live in flip flops from late spring to late fall. My first trip to Disneyland, I wore athletic shoes, and my feet hated me for it. I would much rather traips around in flip flops than high heels(that is something i do not understand- the people who wear high heels to the parks) And after running in a half marathon, I do not want hot athletic shoes on my feet anymore!

I have been to DL a ton of times and I always wear flip flops, my mom, grandma and sister always wear them too. None of us ever have issues.
I hold my shoes on with my toes so on soarin it isnt an issue but they d have baskets to put the shoes in.

I even wore them at WDW and thats far more walking.
They seem to be the best for my feet.
Even though I have terrible knee problems....sometimes my other shoes seem to make it hurt worse than flip flops.

We are a family of flip flop wearers, but I try to do some nice athletic shoes now for the family while we are in the parks. 1- safer, 2- more comfy, 3- one year my flip flops BROKE about 1 hour before the park closed on our LAST day. THere was no way I was leaving an hour early, so I had to go buy shoes from the gift shop...$25 for a pair of flats. YEESH.

So no more flip flops for me, lol. Plus, they really are bad for your hips and back when you wear them for long hours of walking. (at least the flat cheapy ones are)

I live in flip flops. When I lived in CA, I wore them all. year. long. Now that I live in a state where it snows, I wear them as long as I possibly can until the threat of frostbite inevitably makes me dig out some socks and shoes ;)

That being said, people who wear flip flops to the parks more than likely wear them a lot. If I wear them to Disneyland all day long, my feet don't hurt a bit. The times I decided to wear socks and shoes I did leave with achy feet and blisters. It's not an inappropriate choice of shoe for people that wear them all the time.

I actually owned a pair of Reef flip flops that did have arch support. I love love love Reefs.

:thumbsup2

I don't think any footwear is inappropriate (ok.why are people going out more and more in slippers..really??) My biggest concern, and maybe this comes from working in the food service industry for so long where basically steel toed non slip shoes were the norm, is that I don't want to give hordes of people the power to smash my toes at any moment. Safety issue, not fashion. I have accidentally stepped on people's feet wearing flip flops, sandals, etc. you stop suddenly and step back to avoid crashing into a kid or stroller and there you go.

The only times my feet have been injured in crowds have been being hit in the achilles by a stroller during a festival, and I was wearing athletic shoes at the time, and while dancing, while wearing dancing/going out shoes. (I loved the platform trend that started while I was going out dancing a lot, because it puts your toesies UP just enough that someone can't accidentally step on a foot...they'd have to be lifting their foot and stomping down, and that's hardly an accident).

I haven't stepped on a foot, or been stepped on, at Disney as far as I can recall.

I switched off between walking shoes, regular crocs, and my flip flop crocs. Just seemed to help my feet not to be so sore. Having them be open and cool for part of the day also seemed to help. I didn't have any problems being stomped on or ran over. Honestly I think that would hurt just as bad even in my tennis shoes. Maybe steeled toe boots in those cases. lol
