Open Port Orleans Already!-Opening OCT 14th & 28th!!!!

We do the same! A couple nights at FQ to get my PO fix and then off to my DVC villa. It's the best of both worlds!!!!
We always start our vacation with a 1-2 night stay at POR before moving to our DVC villa. We love taking the boat to Disney Springs for our first vacation dinner. That cruise never fails to lull me into a nice, relaxing nap!

POFQ is our favorite moderate resort--hands down. As DVC members, we typically stay in a DVC resort, depending on our DVC points status. So, occasionally, we'll either secure a DVC cash reservation or book a moderate or deluxe resort through Disney directly. If doing the latter, we'd definitely prefer POFQ as our only moderate resort choice. While we did stay at CBR in March 2020 (o.k. stay ... wife and I stayed in a pirate room as that was the only option available for our impromptu trip), we attempted to stay there in August 2020, but had a horrible experience during the first night of our stay there and were eventually moved to a DVC resort (yeah ... we received some well-deserved Disney "magic"). With that said, we're DONE w/ CBR, so if we can't snag a DVC or Deluxe resort, our next choice would be POFQ. So many good memories of staying there; first resort at which we stayed with our children. The ambience, grounds and beignets can't be beat!

I have a trip booked for January 2022 at CSR. We were originally booked for POFQ in January of 2021 but that didn't happen. I think I would still switch to POFQ if it became available, but I'm torn now that I am booked at CSR.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how the two resorts compare? It would be four of us, including two kids who will be 6 and 4.

The rooms are a million times better at CSR than either PO or FQ(seriously Disney upgrade these rooms!). But the grounds, amenities, and ambience are much better at POFQ.

100% agree with this. Some of my favorite grounds on property, but those rooms are in need of a serious update. We love to Uber over there and walk around, grab some beignets and then hop on the boat to DS... but I won't stay there again until those rooms are updated.

If I am not mistaken those rooms were upgraded not too long ago? somebody correct me if I am wrong

I wonder if that Murphy Bed/Table combo like POP Century would work at POFQ...

I really like the rooms there. Might be a personal preference thing, but I think they fit nicely with the resort!

I'd be happy if they just offered the beignets somewhere else lol. I had Universal's on my last trip and they were not the same.
This is because the company that makes them for all theme parks didn't this year because of everything shut down in Louisiana. Only one park got them and that was Busch Gardens Tampa in a very limited amount.

This is why Disney isn't selling them elsewhere.

I think the rooms were charming before the latest update on some of the rooms. These were my fave that bring me fond memories of my visits to Disneyworld, really cozy feeling to me:

I agree this is a case were the "modern refresh" made them rooms actually look cheaper. Partly because they tried to modern refresh with linens only basically(besides the floor and bigger TV)

I think lack of international travel is a huge factor.

This is exactly why I don’t think PO is going to open before UK travel in particular resumes. Those resorts are stupid popular with UK guests. The one time I stayed at POFQ literally all I saw were Brits and all I heard were Mancunian accents. Was hysterical tbh especially as a Man City fan.

I hope they open soon for the sake of those who love them…I thought it was a pretty little resort but too many small dealbreakers that added up for me. I learned on that trip that I’m a Deluxe or bust sort of person.

That is a “Royal” room at POR. Push a button on the headboards and there are fireworks in the scene.
Ugh, seeing this picture makes me sad. We had a Royal room reserved for May 2020 for my daughter’s 6th bday and of course had to cancel due to covid.

We really had our hearts set on this resort/room. We’d like to go back either this fall or early 2022 but have no clue when it will re-open.
