Open Mike Night - Everyone is Welcome

I'll have to check out local places for facials. Only ones I know of are at Disney, and they charge like 3 times what others do. Maybe I'll check around tomorrow.

Oh, DH is buying a new car in the next couple of weeks (old one is from '96) so I may be a bit restricted wiith funds for facials, rats............ I think I have another year of payments left on my car.

HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY!!!

Fun Facts About Groundhogs

The average groundhog is 20 inches long and normally weighs from 12 to 15 pounds. Punxsutawney Phil weighs about 20 pounds and is 22 inches long.

Groundhogs are covered with coarse grayish hairs (fur) tipped with brown or sometimes dull red. They have short ears, a short tail, short legs, and are surprisingly quick. Their jaws are exceptionally strong.

A groundhog's diet consists of lots of greens, fruits, and vegetables and very little water. Most of their liquids come from dewy leaves.

A groundhog can whistle when it is alarmed. Groundhogs also whistle in the spring when they begin courting.

Insects do not bother groundhogs and germs pretty much leave them alone. They are resistant to the plagues that periodically wipe out large numbers of wild animals. One reason for this is their cleanliness.

Groundhogs are one of the few animals that really hibernate. Hibernation is not just a deep sleep. It is actually a deep coma, where the body temperature drops to a few degrees above freezing, the heart barely beats, the blood scarcely flows, and breathing nearly stops.

Young Groundhogs are usually born in mid-April or May, and by July they are able to go out on their own. The size of the litter is 4 to 9. A baby groundhog is called a kit or a cub.

A groundhog's life span is normally 6 to 8 years. Phil receives a drink of a magical punch every summer during the annual Groundhog Picnic, which gives him 7 more years of life.

BTW, I have heard that a very good budget facial can be done at home using Kitty Litter and mayonaise. :rotfl: :rotfl:

JUST kidding!

I think a groundhog is pretty much like a woodchuck. In which case, I can say that depending on the accuracy of Lowell's aim, their lifespan at our property is more like 6- 8 weeks. And if we could give ours "magical punch" it would be a lot shorter than that! :rotfl2:

Minnie Moo- Ground Hogs are cute-ish! I didn't decorate for Ground hog day, in case you were wondering. I do have a festive red toille and wisteria front-porch entrance (true that!). Funny thing though, everyone in my hood has taken my holiday decorating as a personal challenge and have started competing! The gay guys on the corner win every time though. I just need to add some cherubs and some gold-leafed hearts, and mine will be the best. (Just kidding on that last sentence).

Isn't Twinkie and Nab's vacation over yet?

Kay, my DH feels the same way yours does about the pesky critters!

Uma, I'm shocked that you don't decorate for GH Day!!!

I have to hurry up and finish my TR. Know why? I'll share.

Imagine me standing on the kitchen side, making dinner. DH sitting on the other side keeping me company while I'm making dinner. I causually asked DH: "Do you think we could take another weekend trip to WDW before our passes expire?" DH says: "Like a Saturday, come back Sunday?" Me: "Well, something like that..." DH: "Well, I'm sure you already have it planned, so tell me what you want." Me: "I was thinking that you could take off Monday and we could leave Friday night and spend Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, half day. I already checked for rooms and we can stay at Pop or ASMu, or if it means getting to go, we can stay off-site for less." DH: "No, we might as well stay on Disney. We can stay at ASMu, we haven't stayed there in a long time. No, lets stay at Pop." By now I am so excited I can hardly contain myself. Then he says something, I can't remember exactly what was said next. But it had something to do with him thinking the time away was just for us, not the kids. Then I said something along the lines of; "Yeah, I would really love to go with just you, but I had my mind set on the kids going and when Jeremiah saw me with the tickets out he said,'We're going to DISNEY??????' and he was so excited." Then DH said something along the lines of; "Why do you want to take them? Last time we went(meaning for the day in Jan.) we had a horrible time and they never appreciate it." I said,"We didn't have a HORRIBLE time, we just weren't in our regular groove because we got their late and missed out on getting ahead of the crowds. Plus, they aren't that bad, you just expect too much out of them. They're better than most people's kids we come in contact with." Then we got into this whole conversation about not spending enough time with the kids. That the only time we really spend time as a whole family doing things together are when we go to Disney, or the beach, because Chad's not into sitting around a playing board games or legos. (No one did that with him growing up, so it's something he struggles to overcome.) Long story short(ish) he agreed that we enjoy spending time together most at WDW and we should take the kids. So I continued cooking my dinner and he sat there and we talked and I kept mentioning,"I wish you hadn't said anything about going alone, now I really want to." All the while formulating a plan in my head...(inside my head) "He has 3 vacation days and 2 sick days already, we only need 2 or 3 for our beach trip in May and other than that we have no other vacation plans, plus we'll keep storing up more vacation days. Plus we have the money for them, so wouldn't a trip as a family AND a trip just the 2 of us be great. We could leave on a Thursday night and stay until Sat. and come home Sat evening so we can make church on Sun." I kept trying to work it into the conversation, and then my parents and brother walked in(they were coming for dinner) so I decided to try later or another day.

Later:

I looked at the calander to write down the date he needed to bring to work to take off. I said,"So you want to take off Friday AND Monday, right?" hehe He said,"What? Now you want to go for 4 nights?" "What are you going to do for me?" Yes, it always comes down to that, doesn't it? Long story short(ish), we are going March 1st(checking in that night)-March 5th(we'll stay most the day and drive home) AND just the 2 of us are going Feb. 15th(checking in that night)-17th(staying most the day and driving home).

I have the greatest of skillz I tell ya.

Course, we have to find a sitter for the Feb trip to actually take place, AND we have to stay off site that time, which is fine with me. I don't mind. Really.

Yay! For me! I am so excited!

I booked us at ASMu, even though he said Pop. I requested Jazz Inn since it's all refurbished and I added a "pretty please" for good measure. I really wanted to stay at ASMu again since it's the first place we ever stayed and we've never been back since....and we were just at Pop last Nov. But if he cares, I'll change it. I don't think he really cares. In fact, I know for sure I could talk him into going Mod. instead. :lmao: In our conversation last night, before I spit out that I wanted to go with just him TOO. While I was smiling uncontrolably, which he can't resist, he said,"What? You want to stay at the Poly?" I set my sights too low, I tell ya. Later I said to him,"You were going to say yes to the poly weren't you?" He was, I know it. He can't resist my secret smile, which I do not know what it looks like or how or when I do it. But he can't resist it and thankfully I do it, without knowing, at just the right times.

next time though, I'm setting my sights higher. For goodness sake, I could have been going to the Poly. :rotfl:

MommyPoppins,

If I didn't know better, I'd think you were excited. :lmao:

Have a great time, both trips! I have a bunch of relatively recent photos of ASMu (November) in my trip report. Pool pic, room, buildings, the food court etc.

Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm. It's infectious. :) :) :)

Wow, MommyP, you do have mad skillz!!!

I'm working on my DH for an October (post end of fiscal year) trip, renting points from my coworker at Saratoga Springs to see how we like DVC.

Marita, I was so sad to see the tornado damage down your way, especially after you were just talking about The Villages. Please check in if you read this. Hope you're not without power.

Hope everyone's got some fun plans for the weekend. I'm going to lunch and a movie with a friend tomorrow. And helping her pick out paint for her DD's bedroom. She may join me and DH, if I can talk him into going, on the October Disney trip.

Hi, Kay! And Uma! Pretty quiet here today.

Think I'll have a glass of wine. I'm going to try a Schwan's mini pizza for dinner. I'm trying to decide if it is too cold to get in the hot tub tonight - only 10 degrees. Brrrrrr. I think I'd have to crank up the temp for an hour or so before attempting it!

geesh.....I have to try your approach to this disney killing......I mean vacations....I dont usually have to do anything though......old man comes up with the ideas and where we are going to stay......He wants FQ this time and I was opting for Movies...French quarter or the old Port Orleans was our first visit....we loved it then and have gone there maybe 6 times...same for Riverside which was always Dixie Landings...Movies we have visited five times and Sports with the gkids once...Dolphin I think we have been there three or four times....I cant keep my visits with the mouse straight...cause I love it so much.

The snow is coming down HEAVY now ......I hate snow but you guys know it already .......yuck

Moo, I just read your edit, and I'm embarrassed to admit that yes, my Christmas tree is still up! Will you still talk to me? :confused3

Hee hee hee!!! If it had been up to me, our Christmas tree would probably still be up too! I think Valentine's Day was the latest I've ever left a tree up. Good thing my daughter took ours down before she went back to school.

Do you need me to send you some cherry cordial kisses for energy? :lmao:

Because I can - I'm going to Sam's Club tomorrow.

Back atcha, (Toot) s-Wheat-s!

You mean the Christmas tree is supposed to be down now ????????? :scared1:

Moo, I am fine, we have power, the storms were north of us. We just got some wind and rain.

It was a gray and dreary day here today, though, I was happy I did not have to go to work. I also did not feel like leaving the house. So all my grandiose plans for manicure, pedicure, and oil change went by the wayside. Oh well, an other day!
