Open Mike Night - Everyone is Welcome

Ohh! I should buy light blue crocs for my friend Phil and make him wear them. He's a big UNC fan.

So here's my whine for tonight.
Tammy loves her job. She makes 24,000 a year to be an independent support coordinator. She has a case load of 29 individuals with mental retardation.
She is on call 24/7.
Her job requires a college education and total devotion.
She is currently gone to an individual's home because the individual is hearing voices and wants to run away (she's schizophrenic).
It is snowing.
I know, not a big deal, but remember this is Nashville - we HEAR about snow and run to the store to gather up all the bread and milk.
She's not the best driver on a sunny day, so I'm a tad worried.

I hate her job.
Ok.
Whine over.

Moo, thanks for reading my "story."
I LOVED it, Kay! Like I said, I was savoring it because it brought back lots of memories from my trip to Wilderness Lodge with my hubby. That was our first major vacation without our daughter after she went off to college.

Anybody who hasn't read Kay's trip report/story, get your "bums" over there now!!! I see that Celery just posted too.

Now that is scary UMA, what was he warming the neck thing a bobber for. Just to relax, surely not to eat or you are in big trouble :lmao:

I know you would know candles UMA. Do you have an Easter decorations up yet.....

Uh, St. Patrick's Day is first, silly!

Hi Toots you sound like you had a good day.

Are tart and tart warmers like little tea candles.:confused3 I don't know much about candles because that smell nice.

I am to scared the kids would knock them over and burn the house down. That and a friend of ours had their cat knock over a candle in their old house and they had to rebuild the whole thing. I am a worry wort.

The tarts you don't light, there is no wick. In some tart holders you light a tea light under them though. I got the electric warmer that you plug in.

Toot- have you heard of Scentsy Candles??? The are heated by warmer too. It'sa a 25 wt. light bulb that warms them and one bar (about $4) lasts as long as a large Yankee! They are just the greatest! what scents do you guys like? I like "baked" ones. Right now it's Rum Cake and it is to die for. Smells like Sugar Cookie to me, but better.

No, I've never heard of Scentsy Candles. They sound great. Yes, I love the ones that smell like baked goods too. I have a blueberry pancake one from Bob Evans that I love, plus I like vanilla cupcake, brown sugar, butter pecan, etc. They make your house smell like a home!

But upstairs I like the fresh scents like lemon lavendar and clean cotton.

Oh how could I have forgotten that one UMA. Can't say I celebrate that one. No green beer for me. I have Scottish and German blood in my not Irish.

Celery I am like you, if hubby is late coming from work I worry too. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Kay I love your report. Don't really comment on trip reports to often because I am not witty like some writers and responders....I am not to crazy about the food at Whispering Canyon myself but it fun to watch the kids have so much fun.

Moo how did the chili go over with hubby?

Moo - I'm not sure. I know the Dr. said not to drive before my next appointment, which is Tuesday.
I hate people who page doctors unneccessarily, but I had to page him twice today!!!!

Warning! If descriptions of anatomy or yucky things disturbs you, don't read this.

The first time was because I had to be sure if I have to reopen one of my wounds twice a day to clean it. The answer is yes.
The second one was because I thought my tubing on the other side was pulling out. The answer was no.
I feel so stupid!!!

NAB, really? You thought TI smelled like Pineapple? I never noticed that. :)

What did you think it smelled like? This was a long time ago maybe 10 years now. It was defineitly something tropical....

I forgot you used to live in Vegas.....

I didn't notice it smelling like anything. A lot of them smell like chlorine to me because of all the water they have. Did you ever see that Pirate show outside of T.I? They closed it down a couple years ago. I used to love that!

I did indeed see the show. Why did they shut it down? It was very popular then and I bet it would be now. I haven't been there in a long time. I would love to see the new hotels. I think they were building Paris or just finished when I was there last. Is Treasure Island red now? It was a salmon colour when I was there but on C.S.I. it looks red.

DING DING DING : WE HAVE A WINNER !!!! LUCKY POSTER # 100 ON MY TRIP REPORT IS, CELERYSTALKER!

Celerystalker, you haven't finished reading yet, so you don't know that I said I was approaching the 100 reader mark, and that the 100th reader would have the next episode dedicated to them! :happytv:

Moo and NAB, thanks so much for the kind words. I am having such a riot writing this "story." NAB, please post from time to time. You don't have to say anything clever. I just love to know that people are reading and it's fun seeing the notification pop up that someone has posted. I don't care if they just say, "I'm reading and enjoying this." It's just nice to hear from people.

T.I. is still the same color! :teeth:

The reason they stopped the show is that people would only stop there to see the show, that was the main attraction. It didn't draw people into the casino to spend money. They just did the free show out front.

Bellagio said a while back that if they coudl redo anything it would be to cancel that water show out front. For the same reason.

Paris is a beautiful hotel. But I like Venetian the best!!

Oh, and CSI is a warped show. I love it but it is so totally not filmed in VEGAS!! We always laugh at the inconsistencies.

Drats! Missed it by one!!! Well, hopefully that will help brighten Celery's day!

Celery, with surgical stuff, I think it is better to check if you're unsure. That's why they have those after hours services!

Nab, when I tasted the regular chili, I realized it would be too spicy for Don since I added the Rotel tomatoes with green chilies this time, so he had hot dogs tonight. I'm going to make him something he likes better than goulash tomorrow. We call it "foil dinner" because we used to make it in foil packets over the camp fire when we camped, but at home I just mix up hamburger and diced potatoes, celery, carrots, onion and sliced mushrooms and bake it in a dish in the oven with a little garlic salt --YUM.

I'll probably have to freeze some of the chili. Or I can take the white chicken chili to work and share it with some of my friends for lunch.

It's no wonder people don't go into the Bellagio when they stop to see the fountain -- I thought it took forever to get up to the entrance from the street!

We did go in and look at the Chihuly ceiling and the flowers in the conservatory, but I didn't think it was very welcoming!

The Venetian was cool, but I didn't like the smell they piped in there. Now, Mandalay Bay on the other hand -- I'd go back there in a heartbeat, but not on the weekend. I got tired of seeing so many :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc on display!

Yay on the 100th poster for me!!!!

Tammy called. She's on the way to the hospital (with her patient in an ambulance and her in the car). But now she's lost. We have so many hospitals in the same part of Nashville - they all run into each other. She's going to the one where I just had my surgery - but there's a regular ER, a women's hospital and a psychiatric hospital all together.

I used to live in Vegas too. For like three months before I turned 21. I was a recluse then so I didn't see a lot. I did see the treasure Island show though.

Tammy and I are going back to do a Cirque du Soleil trip when we get "sick" of Disney. Which means probably never. Especially now that we like cruising so much.

All the food descriptions sound so good!! Yummy!

OOPS! Sorry, didn't mean to make you hungry. I'll stop now!

A coworker of mine had bariatric surgery a year ago in January. So I know how limited his diet was that first year. I always felt so bad when he joined us for lunch with his little dab of food. But he is SO skinny now.

You should get him a pair of the light blue crocs then :teeth:

Riiii-iiight. You know that he doesn't allow UNC logo apparel into our house. In fact he had trouble with baby boy duds 'cause the light blue screamed Carolina to him.

Uh, St. Patrick's Day is first, silly!

And Twinkie's birthday... have you decorated for that yet Utah? :teeth: or are you waiting till you get home?

Ok. Now I am hungry reading about all you Holly Homemaker's who cooked....

I am so glad the hockey game didn't go into overtime. I just put my son to bed. He was watching the Toronto Maple Leafs and Oilers play. Now I can sit on the couch in comfort.

Funny I never wanted to move away from where I was born. When I got married an hour and half seemed far. Now I am two hours away. Well it is really farther but we live off the big highway so you can go fast. All my brothers and sister live in the same town. Hubby moved around so he can't understand why I don't like change. He would love to move to the country. We live in town but it is grown fast. We hope to get a Walmart soon:rotfl2:

Twinkie, not ALL Carolina duds are baby blue! My DD's Carolina shirts are mostly navy, with just a touch of Carolina blue in the printing!

And just HOW would one decorate for Twinkie's birthday, pray tell?! I just saw a Twinkie the Kid Twinkie holder at the Kitchen Collection store at the outlet mall yesterday. How about if we hang a few of those on the tree???

Ok. Now I am hungry reading about all you Holly Homemaker's who cooked....

Blame it on Weight Watchers!

Why does your DH hate Carolina?
