Hello,
We are headed off on our first family trip to WDW in July. Family of 6: self, DH and our sons 16, 15, 8 and 4 will be dining out of pocket lunch and dinner during our 12 day stay. We have made reservations for daily TS meals, but would like to know some help.
Is is possible for us to eat CS and sit together for lunch?
Any TS or CS would should definitely go to? (DH and I like all kinds of foods, youngest sons are a bit picky)
Any tips on saving $?
What snacks are a must?
TIA
You should be able to eat at most, if not all, CS locations all together. I think that there may be places where it could get a little tight (Tangerine Cafe in Morocco near the bakery counter, for example), but for the most part you should be okay, especially if you miss the worst mealtime crowds.
The pictures here may give you a sense of some of the seating choices available:

As for good CS places:
In MK: Columbia Harbor House is my favorite.
In DHS: Fairfax Fare is my favorite there, but the offerings in DHS are not the greatest
In AK: I hear good things about Flame Tree BBQ, but will know more in a few weeks.

In Epcot: Some good choices -- Sunshine Seasons has a lot of variety and healthy options. Tangerine Cafe in the Morocco Pavilion is very good. There is a Crepes de Chefs de France kiosk if you like Crepes. The Yorkshire County Fish Shop in the UK Pavilion (attached to Rose and Crown) is pretty good if you want to get fish and chips.
For TS places, Epcot is again going to give you the best options. I have had good meals at Teppan Edo, Le Cellier, and Chefs de France, and Akershus in the Norway Pavilion has a nice Princess Storybook Breakfast.
In Animal Kingdom, we really like Tusker House. If you get a lunch ADR between 1pm and 1:45pm, you get priority seating for the Finding Nemo show at 3:15, which is a nice perk.
At DHS, Brown Derby is good.
And at MK, Crystal Palace is probably the best thing going, although it is a buffet and pricey, and has Winnie-the-Pooh characters.
As for snacks, the caramel corn in Epcot from Karamel Küche is great.
