I very clearly told DD that shells had to stay at CC and I made sure she emptied her bucket. Imagine my surprise this morning when I opened my sunglasses case that holds my glasses I wear for trips to the pool. Sneaky kid.

Yikes! On our first trip to CC DH went snorkeling off SB and found a live Helmet Shell and brought it ashore to take a picture. He then returned it to the sea at a safe distance away from crowds. He dives and those are a rare find.

Are you questioning why it was an Oops? You're not supposed to remove shells or sand from Castaway Cay.

No, it means that I picked up some at Castway Cay. By sea shells I thought they meant the big ones or the alive ones. :confused3 Not the very small ones like the picture posted here.

Well, the actual quote (on the front page) from the Navigator says:

"Due to our commitment to the environment, we ask that seashells, coral and other natural treasures be left undisturbed at Disney's Castaway Cay for all to enjoy."

I read it as any shells, or any other naturally occurring items be left alone. Mostly because, I would image if everyone took "just a few" there wouldn't be much of a beach left. I believe the materials for the beaches were originally brought in, and need to be replenished as the ocean washes them away.

This is funny! Glad there aren't any behavior police quoting the rules. Thanks OP for that cool pic.

Agree.

The one thing that actually " ruins" the vacation is " The rules police" the person who thinks they are DCL and says you can't do this you can't do that, only DCL knows.

An example.

We went to Cabanas after a lay in and it was busy there was a queue to the first island, and we know you do not need to queue but go to the island you need. On this morning, the CM there said nothing so I was polite and queued. Another time the CM said aloud, no queues so I followed that. One lady said there is a queue and follow that, I said nothing, it's for the crew to deal with.

Its easy to miss in the navigator, and also on the OP tbh a child's mistake here,

We can all stand down!!! Nothing to see.

Suppose I get told off for all the sand in my trunks and shoes!

I actually saw that notice AFTER we came back and figured that since they checked our bags before getting back in the ship and said nothing, I had not picked up the "forbidden stuff".

Now I know. Won't happen again.

I agree Easy to miss it I didn't know until our third or fourth call there and then by accident, my children when young picked up loads of shells I didn't know until we got home.
