Last time we visited the World I put my park hopper passes in the magnetized clip of my billfold and accidentally erased them. We tried for about two hours to get the passes to work again (we had reservations for dinner in Epcot) and could not get them to work at all. We ended up having to go into the Guest relations building in Epcot and they had to issue us new passes.

Guess that's a lesson for those of us with anything magnetic in our pockets - DON'T DO IT!!

The cool thing we learned is that the passes keep a complete history of every transaction you have made with them, the number of times you enter each park, the day and hour you entered, and so on. It was great to see the history of these passes.

Hope my little story helps prevent someone else from making the same mistake I did.

Have a magical day!!!

OOPS! Bet you won't do THAT again! :p

Glad everything worked out for you - I know when we've had ticket *issues* (I left my PAP in a Fastpass machine once  ) the Disney CM's at Guest Relations have been wonderful!

That is pretty cool. Does it also keep track of all the times, days, rides, etc. that you used it to get a fastpass? I know it does each day you use it, so I guess it could also keep that information indefinitely. Has anyone ever used a pass to get a fastpass that wasn't used to enter the park that day? I heard that it won't work either.

(hey, AreWeThereYet, funny, your username is my tag line! LOL!!)

Hi chamonix -

I am not sure if it keeps track of all the fast passes, etc., but I would imagine it does because the fast pass machines do keep track of when you get your passes and when you can get new ones.

When I go back I'll check and see.

Yep, I tried to get FP's with all of our hoppers last time while hubby was sleeping in & planning to meet up with us later and it wouldn't let me have a FP for him. It definitely knows if the hopper was used for park entry.

In addition to data on the media strip, a central computer keeps track of each transaction made via the barcode. That's how Disney knows what's left on a pass even if the media is corrupted. It's the record on the computer that is 'official'.
