Last night I was going over our list of expenses for this wedding. In the past few days I've added Mickey and Minnie, A dinner the night before the wedding, and a breakfast the following morning. These additions tack on an extra $3,000 to the wedding.

Now, here's what the DF said last night....if I cut those things he will book a 10 night Disney cruise for us next year. This is soooo tempting! What would you do?

I would go for the cruise too. Just make sure if that is what you choose that you will be ok not having those other things. You don't want to wonder later on or be sad you didn't have those things. Be sure to think it through!!!

Have A Magical Day!

10 day cruise...no doubt! Or see if you can negotiate to get one of the 3 things. Again, like everyone else, make sure that you are ok with getting rid of those things.

Oh, I love to cruise! Only been once, for our honeymoon, and we booked our second cruise right away, for our first anniversary :woohoo:

See if you can work it out to keep one of those things (like maybe the breakfast the next day to say "good-bye" to folks), and still have enough for the cruise. We got the Dining Card and saved a lot on the rehearsal dinner and the day-after brunch.

The cruise is calling my name. What I had in mind for a breakfast was very expensive because I was thinking of either CRT or Crystal Palace and having to pay park admission for everyone. I'll mention doing a cheaper alternative to him and see if we can come up with something.

I know what you mean! I wanted to do the Disney cruise but DH said we'll do that once we have kids, for now we'll stick with "regular" cruise ships  There are so many fantastic restaurants at the resorts that you could choose for breakfast. A character breakfast (like at CR) will of course cost more, but it would be less than park admission for all the guests (wow- that is generous!). We did it at Whispering Canyon Cafe. My father has cancer and can't travel much, and since he stayed at WL it was easy for him to get to the Cafe. It was fun, the food was delicious, and it was really nice to spend time with everyone before they left for home. Good luck in your decision!

My question is why doesn't he want to do those things?

I'd probably vote for the cruise as well but would make sure that you won't be disappointed with cutting those things.

wow, tough call! I agree with everyone else, make sure you're ok with cutting. Personally, I would try to finagle Mickey and Minnie AND the cruise! LOL I would really have regretted not getting them, and to think in the beginning we weren't going to have them! What were we thinking??? LOL

good luck with your decision!

I vote for the cruise! No doubt:) but make sure you and your fiance are absolutely happy with the decision...don't want any regrets!!

I agree with Cryssi, I would try to get Mickey and Minnie AND the cruise! The pics I've seen with Mickey and Minnie in them are so awesome, I wish I could budget them into my wedding! It's so perfect for a Disney wedding to have them there. But if he won't negotiate, I'd want the cruise.

Good luck deciding.

I'm thinking as an alternative to Minnie and Mickey, doing a character dining experience for our reception. That cuts down the costs big time and allows more money to be blown on the cruise :goodvibes

Here's the thing though...Would it be weird to be in full wedding attire eating with the public in a character buffet?

He's an all out guy so I can see where he wouldn't be all over those things, but at the same time were very conservative with our funds in most cases so all of this extra spending has really taken him by surprise. I'd say that he's right that those funds could be put to better use by having an entirely different and lengthy vacation.

Lots of couples have done the character dining and had so much fun - what a great way to have the characters without the price!

I just wish someone had some pics of their meal with the characters. I've done the whole character dining thing before, but I can't picture it for a wedding. If I had some photos of someone having a blast doing it I'd be all there!

Well, we talked about it and I'm definitely taking the cruise and cutting the CRT breakfast. I mentioned keeping the characters and we're in limbo about it. I talked with my WP this morning and she suggested doing GF Cafe' rather than 1900 park fare. This would cut out a character meal completely.
