For various reasons, there is going to be more money coming in to our house starting 2 weeks from now. Ironically, that was the time I was going to book our 1st night stay. Just one night, at the beginning of our trip. I was going to go value or even off-site.

I'm tempted now. I'm tempted to either get our 1st night stay at Poly or Contemp. Or even better, our last two nights stay at Poly or Contemp. We're at VWL the bulk of the trip. The last two nights we were going to be at POR.

Part of me knows that money would be put to better use, but then I know that we'll probably not get back to WDW for about 4-5 years. DD really wants to go to the Poly, as she is obsessed with Polynesian culture. (She's not even in kindergarten yet, lol!)

Help me! Would you splurge or just stick with the plan, that being cheap (probably value) on arrival night, VWL for 5, POR for two

OR

Staying at least one night in our fantasy resort? Would it be worth it for one night? Will I regret it if I don't?

Thanks for the help

Shel

I think everyone should stay at a deluxe resort at least once. If you can only budget one or two nights you need to ask yourself a few questions.
If you are thinking of spending your first night at a deluxe the important question would be what time will you be checking in. If you will be arriving late and checking out the next morning this is probably a waste of money as about all you wil be doing is sleeping.
If you want to spend a couple of days at a deluxe at the end of your trip the question you need to ask is how much time am I going to spend at the resort. If you will still be spending a lot of time at the parks you will again be using the resort basicaly for sleeping. If you plan to use your last couple of days to just relax and unwind from your vacation before you have to head home I can't think of a better place to do that then at the Poly.

That's a very good point. We'll be arriving in the evening, probably around 8, and at that point the kids will be getting to bed soon. Also, 1st night is the night before value season starts.

The end of our trip we were going to avoid at least MK because they'll be filming the Christmas parade that day. We were planning tea at GF, etc.

I'll look into the prices for the last two days at Poly. Thanks for the tips! :Pinkbounc

Wow, looks like nothing left but Princess Suites for our last two nights! Availability for our 1st night though. Checking on other deluxes now.

I think the answer depends on your overall financial situation. If you'd never miss the extra money for the deluxe, go for it. If, on the other hand, you really SHOULD pay on your credit cards, increase your emergency savings, hold the extra money for miscellaneous expenses, whatever, I wouldn't spend it. I've never been able to bring myself to pay the rates at any of the on-site resorts except the values. I can just think of too many other things the money could be better spent on. Your mileage may vary.

We LOVED the CS and were kind of taken back when we stayed at a deluxe. I thought there would be much more...of everything...you know to justify the price being so much greater. I was kind of disappointed. One thing you can do is rent points on one of your final nights. That should make it cheaper - then you'll have some extra $$$ and get to try out a deluxe room.

Go for the gusto. We just booked AKL Concierge's and I'm not regretting it at all!

I'm still debating, but I think in the end I'm going to have to say no. One night is just too short to spend that much on two rooms for our group at a deluxe just to turn around and check out the next morning. We'll be at VWL, so we'll get some of the WL deluxe feel. I just know that we could do Sheraton Vistana or even something cheaper and rent a car and it would still be $600 less than a room at the Poly.

At the same time, I think there is always room for improvement in the financial situation. We could always save a little more, spend a little less. I'm pretty thrifty and tight with the money, but vacations for us are once every 5 years, so I allow for a little belt-loosening at vacation time. (I'm in charge of the $$, lol.)

Anyway, It helps to hear the two voices on my shoulders from other people. I'm going to look around at rates and make a decision tonight. :)

Now if I could just make a stroller decision...
