Ok you guys helped me find a great hotel at a great price in chicago (omni) now I need help on the shopping. I wont have alot of time to shop because I will have my son who is 3 and my husband who hates to shop;) so me and my daughter have to shop quickly, where do you recommend, I love a great bargain so any inside help would be great. I am taking her to the American girl store but I need clothing stores etc. thanks for any help you can give these power shoppers we can get alot done with proper planning;)

I should have stated that Im not looking for stores like Macys and those expensive kind of stores, we are more like Old Navy and kohls, but if there are some unique stores in little shopping areas I would love to go there. I checked out Gurnee Mills and we have an outlet just like that here. Just looking for something a little different. Thanks

Is the omni in Chicago over by Michigan ave? If so you are close to the American Girl store...also overthere is Watertower, and Fields click here
Nany Pier has alot of unique little shops and tons of shops up and down Michigan Ave including the Massive Chicago Disney Store :)
In the loop Michigan Ave area your not going to find many outlet malls, you would need to drive out of the city for those. Hope this helps some :)

State Street, which is just a few streets to the west of Michigan Ave and then down to the south a bit has alot of stores. HUGE Old Navy, Sears, the Marshall Fields store - if you are on State you MUST walk near Marshall Fields if only to look at the window display for Easter, oh dear alot of stores in that area but you mentioned Old Navy and I know there is a HUGE store on State Street. Do a search for Old Navy and it should give you the address.

It will probably be your best bet to take the bus system - I don't remember off hand which one to get on but just stop one of the busses and ask which bus goes to State Street shopping. The drivers are usually pretty helpful.

Here is a link to shopping info:

I can't find the transportation map that I use sometimes online for the busses but the drivers are helpful.
