Good Monday Night Everyone,

As you know my DH and I are investigating buying at SSR. I just heard a rumour that the points are going to increase very soon. Have any of you heard from Disney regarding the increase? Also, when you did purchase your DVC did you use a lawyer here in Ontario to close the deal or did you do everything yourself directly with Disney?

The last question for today is "Can you pay off your DVC at any time during the length of your financing without any charges? Or do you have to still pay the interest for the remaining time on your loan?

Thanks,

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there already has been a price increase...$95/point...it was officially announced last Thursday or Friday...?:(

We did everything direct with Disney...and no, I don't believe that there are any penalties if you pay out your loan early, we didn't do the financing route...but check with your Guide...

Good Luck!!:sunny:

$95 effective April 9th

Existing members have another month to buy at the $89 price

You can pay the balance at any time

We did not use an Ontario lawyer as we will buying from DVC direct and they have a standard boilerplate contract etc.

I know if you finance you have to have your signatures notarised

thanks

Fellow Ontario DVC newbie

We are doing the 10 year financing route, with the desire to pay off early. We asked the question about paying extra off on the loan. Our Guide said it would be fine, that it is a "no penalty loan".

We are hoping to actually pay it off in the next few years, not the ten years we sign up for. The term was just so that in the mean time my payments are lower.

The only time I needed a Lawyer was to have my signature notorized! Gone are the days of just getting your bank manager to do it!LOL It's pretty standard.

I would double check regarding any penalities for paying off your loan earlier with Disney.

You could also get a line of credit or loan here and pay it off right away!

Good luck in your decision.

And it doesnt need to be a lawyer, we went to a notary public, and for a small fee, i think $25 it was all signed and sealed. Good luck with your purchase.

We used a lawyer in London David Fisch it was 25 bucks to have him do it and no there are no penaties for early payment on the contract. Yes the points did go up in price sorry for the bad news on that one.

Hello,

We bought WL, and happened to get 5 or 7% off the price for advancing the usage year 6 months (no skin because we weren't looking to travel right away) so saved some money for April 1 year rather that Oct 1 (worked out well).

Price increase in April (seen elsewhere also), but seems to me Disney was advertising (not very well) points for other properties at lesser rates - maybe worth asking about.

We paid in full using Canadian bank - called DVC and got the destination for the money - our bank wired the money down no charge. The money wasn't due on signing in Orlando - strikes me that we had about a month to consider, reconsider, then send the money (working out very well so far).

Have fun making the decision.

Cheers.

We just bought on Monday March 8)....did Magical Beginnings ($1500 credit per 150 points) and purchased our SSR DVC @ 79$/point. The price increase is for $900 dollars and takes place on April 4,2004 (this I believe is based on 150 points). The loan is penalty free and you can make additional payments whenever you like.

Yes Scratch we took the plunge!!!:teeth:

Congrats Pkitty you will love the DVC

Hey... this is PKITTY'S hubby.. What she failed to mention is that the 1500 and 900 dollars are in Amarican funds.. and thats alot in canadian cash. so keeping that in mind and the extreme quality of DVC. We jumped on the band wagon and will have it for the next 50 years or to pass on to our DD.

like NIKE logo goes. JUST DO IT!

P.S. Im sure you already knew it was in US funds but I just wanted to remind you.. its a great deal. especially if you buy before April 4th 2004.

Have fun.

You did just what we did!!!! Welcome home!!!!!

But we are still going this year, just borrowing 55 points from 2005 for a quick trip in 10&11/04.

You might want to investigate buying your DVC through re-sale. If you are lucky, you might find quite a good deal. Isn't there a re-sale company that advertises with the disboards?

Scratch oddly enough they kinda are...we where the 4 th Canadian family to buy from our particular notary (the paper work guy) in the last week!!! He said they same kind of thing!!!Since the dollar has picked up he said they are seeing a tremendous upswing in Canadians purchsing!!!That's cool!!! Oh and thanks for your message re our puppy Theo...everyone has been so thoughtful.
