OnSite vs. OffSite Cart Rental

I need the pros and cons on renting golf carts. We will be at FW for a week in April. We have camped there many times before and only had a cart for part of one trip but thought one might be nice this trip since we won't be in preferred. I would appreciate any input you may have!

Jeff Spencer's FW website & FAQ is the most comprehensive one I've read. It's says, "A convenient and less expensive alternative to the Fort Wilderness carts was Golf Carts of Central Florida, which would deliver a cart to your Wilderness Cabin or campsite and pick it up and the end of your stay. Unfortunately, Disney put a stop to this service in the middle of October 2001." Sorry.

You can still rent carts off site but you must be able to pick up and return them yourself. They have a trailer you can rent for $50 but you must return the trailer right away and then go back to get the trailer and return the cart at the end of your stay. Only you can say weather the extra time and effort is worth the savings to you. I don't have the exact cost but from memory if you have to pay the $50 trailer rental on top of 1 week rental you don't save a lot of money. It is worth it for longer stays or if you need a six man cart.

You can check with www.golfcartenterprises.com for exact $$$ info. I don't have my notes here with me for the rental price, but the trailer was $50. I believe that was for use in picking up and dropping off. They are about 12-13 miles off site. Friendly people, but as Memphis said, you may have to stay a while in order for it to make economic sense.

Don't delay in reserving a cart at the bike barn. There are more people who want carts than there are carts! Fyi, there are only 2 six people carts on site. At least that's the last I heard.
