Since the AP rates did not come out for our choice resort – Wilderness Lodge – we are actually considering canceling our reservations or at least part of the reservations at the Yacht Club and doing an offsite trip this year.

I have never stayed on the ocean or gulf side so that is an option we are also considering this year.

Any ideas or suggestions from those of you that have stayed offsite or chosen to do something other than a Disney trip????

Thank you!

love the gulf side!!!

but just because you don't want to pay disney prices - don't take it off your list.

there are a bunch of very nice places to stay at around Disney.

some great condo/timeshares/houses.....

for a start

you might save some money and still have a great place to call home....

plus then you can easily see what the rest of Orlando has to offer. there is a ton to do

We usually stay off-site in Kissimmee. Have stayed in condos and rental homes. We like the rental homes with private pool and spa. We've always been pleased with the home. This year we used VRBO and stayed in a 5 bedroom in Davenport area, about 8 - 10 min from 192 in Kissimmee. It was very easy to get to and quiet. For 9 nites we paid $1100. which included taxes and pool heat, also included free long distance phone calls. There are lots that are closer to Disney ( Emerald Island, Formosa Gardens, Windsor Palms and Hills, Sunset Lake, Lindfields etc. )and also some out on 27 which would be about 10 min. or so away ( Legacy Park # 73745 gave us a good price and the home is new this year ) Have also stayed on Fort Myres Beach and St. Pete's beach. We liked Fort Myres the best. There's lots of rentals through VRBO ( Vacation Rentals By Owner) in these areas too. Hope you have a great trip

#73745 looks absolutely wonderful. Only problem is that it is booked for our dates. Bummer.

Any other suggestions on vrbo.com???

Thank you all!

The house we stayed in at Grand Reserve under the Davenport section of VRBO was nice. It was #31141. It has a large heated pool and spa, large screen TV with movies ( DVD and VHS ), free long distance calls etc. It was at the end of Old Lake Wilson Road. It took about 8 minutes to get to 192 and there was no traffic. It's a quiet gated community. If you rent it the owner will give you the code to open the gates. House is very spacious. The dates for the end of June and first two weeks of July look to be open. But there's lots of other places around there and closer to 192 also. Good luck.
