Onsite/offsite disney tickets

Planning our trip next (very excited) and doing it ourselves for the first time, Eeeek!

Planning to stay in a villa 10 nights, then onsite for 10. Am I right in thinking if we do this and buy our tickets rough wdtc there's no way we can use the disney tickets before we check in to the hotel. Very confused!

If you book a hotel and ticket package through WDTC (ie to get free dining) then you are correct they can not be used prior to check in at your Disney resort.

You can book hotel & tickets separately and then the tickets can be used when you like but you wouldn't be eligible for free dining.

Yes hoping to get a free dining package should they become available. That's a pain.
