onsite hotel pools

Hi, I know its not good etiquette but was wondering if it would be possible to sneak in to the pool at one of the onsite hotels for an hour or two one afternoon while visiting the parks. Do they have a way of knowing if you are a hotel guest/check room key cards/etc? We have 2 litle ones who will need a break but its a long trip back to our hotel and we don't want to waste too much time as we only have 2 days to tour the park and we can't line up in long lines with the babies.

Well, since you know it is 'not good ettiquette', I wonder why you are asking this question on this board. People who are registered guests are welcome to swim at the resorts when they need a break. I can commiserate with the tired cranky kid situation, but babies or not, if you want to swim at an onsite resort, then by all means book a room at an onsite resort.

I have tried to teach my children not to take something that doesn't belong to them, or to which they are not entitled. That is dishonest, NOT a family value. In my world, that is what resort crashing would be.

If you want to swim closeby to universal in the afternoon, there is always Wet N Wild.

Hope it all works out and you are able to enjoy your trip to UO.

Why leave the park to take a break? At US, take the kids to Woody Woodpecker's Kidzone. I believe that Kidzone has a water area for kids to play in. At IOA, there's a water area in Toon Lagoon and also in Suess Landing.

There's your answer. Just beyond Woody Woodpecker is Curious George town. You will get as wet there as any pool.

To your other question....I don't know....is it ever okay just to stop at some hotel to take a swim? I wouldn't do that at our local Holiday Inn - I don't expect the Universal Hotels are any different. What a zoo that would be!!!!

I agree with other posters that would be like looking at your kids and saying ok load up we are going to the nearest hotel and swim for the afternoon and do you seriously think they would say you can stay and swim
I don't think so they are going to run you off or worst cause call the cops on you but I think Lowes hotels would just run you off but would you want that embaressment ???

As stated by the other posters, your room key is required to gain access to the pools. If you are an on-site hotel guest, pool-hopping is encouraged. But you do have to have your room key to access any of the pools at the onsite hotels.

Does the Hard Rock still give out wrist bands? Last time we rented a cabana there, all swimmers had to stop at the towel building, show a room key and get a wrist band. The person there said it was because they were having a problem with people walking over from the parks thinking they could use the pool.

If your kids need a cooling break, definitely take them to the Curious George play area. My kids used to spend hours in there. Even now that they are older, they love to go in it. But bring bathing suits because they will get wet. There is a huge bucket of water that spills from above, water guns, and lots of water jets to dance around in.

Over at IOA, your kids can have a blast in both Camp Jurassic and the play area in Seuss. Also, have them ride One Fish, Two Fish. It is just like Dumbo but with the added fun of having water jets. If you don't listen to the song, and even if you sometimes do, you will get squirted. A ton of fun and refreshing too on a hot day.

Ummmm.... You may as well be asking if it's okay to steal someone's key card and take a nap in their room after your swim, because your own hotel is just too far away. There are plenty of kid's play areas for little ones to burn off steam, and many have water fountains in both US and IOA. They also have benches to sit and relax on if the parents and kids are just too tired to romp in the water. Both parks are very family-friendly, so you should be able to meet everyone's needs without a breach of ethics or etiquette.
