As many of you know we usually stay offsite, stayed at ASM a few years ago and did not enjoy, way too basic and small for us(not to mention overpriced).
Well In August we are offsite for 17 nights then doing a cruise then we have 3 nights left before we come home. Shock, horror we are considering trying a moderate resort to hopefully try and enjoy onsite.
There is choice of 3 resorts here they are with prices(incl tax) for August 22-25th. Are they good prices for August or am I better waiting for AP rates nearer?
POR £71.40/night
POFQ £69.60
CSR £66

Which is best of the 3?
Thanks

Wayne, we had a look around POFQ back in August last year and really loved the look and feel of it. The food court was pretty good too (see my dining report!)

The prices you have are pretty good - did you get these direct from Disney or through another booking agent? One option you have is to book direct with Disney US and then, if a valid AP rate comes out for August, they will apply it to your booking.

I'm going to lie down after this piece of news ;)

I've stayed in POR and CSR and both have some lovely areas to walk around but my vote would go to POR everytime. POFQ also has its fans, but having used the food court at all 3, prefer the one at POR.

I booked POR just last week for friend who is joining us on holiday there soon and the rate I got for them (12 nights) was £70.40 from the UK Disney site. I will be staying at POR for 2 nights myself before moving to OKW, and the AP rate I have is $99 plus tax per night.

While it's only for a few nights, have you considered renting points from a DVC member? I don't have points available myself but I feel you might enjoy the studios. Just a thought :)

Hiya Wayne,
The prices look good enough. We've stayed at POR twice now, once in 2001 and the latter being last year, and I really preferred it to the Beach Club or the Polynesian (apart from the monorail handiness), as there is such a good atmosphere around the whole place. We've eaten at Coronado Springs, and felt it lacked a bit in atmosphere, but then again there was a big convention on at the time.
Happy planning,

Lisa x

That is a point Wayne - it just so happens I have 58 points going spare that I've just advertised for rent on the DVC board. PM me if you're interested :)

Hi wayne

DH and I have stayed in POR (before DD!) we really like it.
It's a great moderate resort, service was great, room nice and food service good - although we were in the parks most of the time lol.

Although renting some points sounds like a good option too.

Wayne,
POR is beautiful! We loved catching the boat down to DTD in the evenings!
Go for it!!

Sorry was in a rush this morning when posting, no its not with Disney.com their rate converts to £87/night incl. for all 3 resorts

Moderate resort rack rates run $149/night (plus 12.5% tax) so you've got some good rates already.

If you are an AA member, AAA discount will slash 20% off of the rack rates.

Annual Passholder is likely to be offered for late August, and could lower the rates down as well.

Good luck! :)

So with AA discount it works out at roughly £68/night incl. similar to prices I have now.
I think this is our option now, rent points to try get a studio at OKW, or book the POR now at the rate I have found, don't think its worth holding out for an AP rate that might not happen and only a few £ saving.
Been looking at pics and reading about the 2 places and while OKW is supposed to be the better of the 2 I like the style & look of POR more.
I never have this trouble booking offsite:rotfl2:

Yes, but using the AAA discount and booking direct with Disney means a better cancellation policy and no payment required until check-in, along with a better chance of having any room requests met. Although, this might be a non-issue for you, anyway.

APH discount is often not that much better than AAA, especially over w/ends, so I wouldn't bother holding out.

Good luck :)

Ok I finalized our plans tonight. Quite happy with price for August.

Virgin flight out 1st Aug (Yorkshire Day:banana: ) Just paid tax plus miles £303
17 nights Country Inn and suites £360 (Inc breakfast & Internet)
4 nights RCCL cruise, outside cabin £618
3 nights POR £213
BMI flight home 25th Aug £705
4x4 car/platinum cover, 24 nights £450

£883 each for all that :woohoo: :yay:

If a great AP rate come out I can cancel the POR for a £15 fee right upto a few days before checkin.

Thanks for all your help:hug:

Great news Wayne - I hope your experience onsite is better than the last :)

Hi Wayne

Great choice with POR - you won't be disappointed!
