We are headed to BCV in late August and I was goofing around on the member site with the resort availability tool when I saw this warning:

  • Due to limited parking availability at both Disney's BoardWalk Villas and Disney's Beach Club Villas, we highly recommend all Disney Resort Guests take advantage of our complimentary transportation options. For Guests arriving in their own vehicles, please be advised that only valet parking may be available. For Guests traveling to Epcot, please utilize the Epcot Guest Parking Lot.
Anyone have any info? This is new since I booked at the 7 month mark.
Valet parking is $20 per day, not excited about paying that.

the discussion has been going on for a while.

some think it is only during the food/wine festival - but not sure. the BCV self parking is BIG - so would get upset if you can't park there - would definitely ask why.

And yet, there's a big valet parking lot that's rarely more than half full, at least the one at BCV is. Frankly this really concerns me also. Why should people be expected to pay for valet parking if they're willing to self-park but there's no parking spot available. Someone said that they thought this notice was only meant for visitors, not guests staying at the resort, but it sounds to me as if they mean all guests, including those staying at the resort. I just don't think it's fair to force guests who bring their own cars into paying to valet park.

I don't think you will have a problem in late August, that is before food & wine and before the big IT convention in early October. I would be really ticked if I had to pay for valet parking at my home resort when they are saving spaces for a convention. I haven't seen anyone post that they had to pay to valet park at the resort they are staying at. I could see making visitors pay or in the case of BW, park across the street.

Most seem to think that it is just referring to people planning to visit the resort, not guests staying at them. At first I was thinking otherwise but I now think that's what seems to make the most sense.

I agree. Someone spoke to ms about this and was told that this info was for day guest, not for folks with confirmed room reservations. We have reservations for August, mid September, late October into early November at bwv so will report back. We also have many confirmed dining reservations at bcv so either self parking there if available or we will valet park since we are TIW holders.

I hope this is true but putting the notice on the dvc members resort availability tool wouldn't make sense since day guests don't have access.

Was looking forward to our first BCV visit but now I don't think the renos wil be done and adding paying for valet parking is another inconvenience.

I guess I will wait and see. Thanks to all that responded.

believe me had the same concerns - generally get bwv for food/wine - not going this year. and if this is still a problem next year - will skip it too.

as I say before even the motel 6 can guaranteed if you stay at their motel you can park your car near your door. Disney should be able to do the same for the Epcot resorts. besides as other already proofed we are paying for the parking lot - if I can't park in what my maintenance fees are paying for - there is A BIG problem.

As it relates to BWV, this is really old news even for guests staying at the resort. BWV has long had issues at times with being able to park such as during busy seasons when trying to park in the evening and when there is a convention or other event and they let those attending the event park there even if not staying at the resort.

If you are staying at resort, IMO should not be an issue. I have been staying at BWV for 15 years and have never been refused parking. The overflow lot IMO is not that far either. Personally if I ran into a situation where there was no parking available I would park at front door and speak to mgr and have it addressed to my satisfaction, until that is an issue I'n not going to worry about it.

Last October my husband and I drove over to BCV and told the gate agent that we intended to valet park and head over to Epcot. It was a Wednesday and one of those days where it was raing ALL day. He told us that we were welcome to park in the guest parking lot that day "because it really wasn't too busy". This makes me think that they are talking about visitors to the resort vs actual hotel guests.

We did have to park in guest parking that was exceptionally far away when we stayed at BWV in October. We drove to the lot and saw how far it was, and we decided that it was worth the money to valet!

I am still pretty bitter that they eliminated the valet perk. Grrrr

But not all members are staying there. It's accessible to anyone checking out that page who can also access DVC.

It is ALSO on the normal WDW website and has been for months. That way, in Disney's "how can we do this in exactly the wrong way so that get as many contacts to guest services as possible" mind, someone thinking about going to BW for a meal or whatever can see that they need to use disney transportation.

Of course WE know that people doing that aren't checking out the hotel's page on the website LOL. They SHOULD, of course, put it on pages like restaurants.

If you arrive for a DVC stay and are told you cannot self-park, pull up to the entrance and ask to speak with a hotel manager right away. I would expect them to pay for the valet parking if day visitors or convention guests have filled up the self-parking.

I called DVC today and asked about it. The rep on the phone was unaware of the message and honestly didn't even seem to know what the resort availability tool was. LOL.

She said "sometimes you [members] know before we do". Awesome.
Other than that, no helpful info.

Perhaps you have stumbled upon the reason for the warning on the DVC site. Now that there is an express warning, the manager need not honor any such request for free valet.

I was thinking why doesn't Disney/DVC add gates to the guest parking, the gates could be opened only by guests staying at the resort by using their MBs or KTTW cards?

I've been saying that for years. I haven't rented a car when staying there for awhile but we would typically arrive on Saturday afternoon and there would be no spaces. I talked to the Boardwalk manager after an annual meeting years ago and he said that's why we give you free valet. Well, not anymore.

Add me to the list about the gates too. It sounds like an easy solution. Maybe one day.

Well if they put gates for the guest parking, then what would they do about people who have reservations for dining or other activities? They would almost have to have 3 separate parking areas then. And then some resort's parking lots might not lend themselves well to gating off a certain section like that, like for instance Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower, where a lot of the resort's parking is in front of BLT.
