Only one park...which one and why?

My 12 yo and I are headed to Orlando and can only get in one day at the World. Open to suggestions. We've been tons of times before but never with such a restriction!

MK... imo that is what disney is all about. You just cant go there without going to MK at least once.

I love EPCOT. I know it doesn't have as many rides but I can wander around WS all day. Bonus if it's F&WF.
But with a 12yo... What is she or he into?

Definitely Magic Kingdom! There so much to do there and there are lots of awesome rides, plus it's the park most people think of when they think of "Disney".

Given that you've been many times before, let him/her decide. 12 is a good age for them to start thinking through such decisions. Also, consider putting Universal on the table as an option.

You need more days ;) but I'm a Hollywood studios fan :D but I'd only class that park as half day now :(

I agree if you've been before let him/her decide. At 12 my son was pretty much over MK and into Epcot or HS.

I love all the parks but I will have to go with MK more to do and see

Let the 12yo choose... it's not as though there's a bad choice!

But, if it were me, I might actually pick DHS. I know there's (a lot) less to do overall, but it still has some of the best individual rides (Tower of Terror, Toy Story, Star Tours, and RnRC are all in my "top 10 at Disney World" set). Shows are good (even the Frozen one - it was WAY better than I imagined). If your 12 year old is a Star Wars fan, you can see the Star Wars show at night, which will probably be new for you all.

You could spring for a hopper pass, and do a couple of parks (maybe MK and Epcot seeing that they are connected by monorail, so you might not waste as much time traveling).

My family is all about AK and EPCOT. We never seem to see everything in either park so we'd choose one of those. If Star Wars was done in HS I would have chosen there but it's not.

My coworker just got back from a trip to Orlando. They chose Animal Kingdom for their one-day. If your family likes animals, you can take as much time as you want meandering through the exhibits. The cast members who staff these areas are great and they can give you so much interesting background on them.

But it definitely depends on your family's interests. I think MK will always be the default answer for the average person, especially if they don't get to visit WDW or DL often. If you're at WDW frequently (or if you're a Disneyland veteran), you have so much more discretion and you can't go wrong with any answer.

if you've been a bunch of times, i'd look at what's new to you and pick the park with the newest thing you want to see the most. MK is going to be most peoples default tho since it's the disneyest of all parks and has more than a full days worth of attractions. i suppose it depends on what feeling you're going for.

I would pick MK but my kids and dh would pick AK even more so since its open late now.

To echo what others above have said, it really depends on what your son/daughter is into. Personally, by 12 I would have been more into Epcot than MK (I've been into world cultures/history since I was young) and my boyfriend says AK (he loves animals).
