Only "OLD" People Watch the Olympics

I've got to admit, I stopped watching the Olympics when they switched to the every two years instead of winter and summer being the same year.

I used to look forward to them, but they just don't seem like a big deal to me anymore. :confused3

I' 56 years old, very young at heart, and love watching the Olympics. How can you not like hockey, ski jumping, downhill, and bobsledding. :paw:

how many days Kami?
:p Twenty nine... wooooo!!! Thirty one days until the "good stuff" though.

Wohooo I gotta break out the Apollo jokes
I'm dooooomed! :rotfl:

And will watch Speed skating in honour of my dear friend Kami
Awwww!!! Hugs Binny! Now THAT is truly very very sweet! :)

I love prunes!

...and hockey! :p

...and rememer watching Olga, Nadia, Dorothy.... Ah! Fun stuff!

I love the Olympics.

Winter sports are pretty good, but figure-ice skating gets the most coverage and don't you think that sport is so rigged and pre-determined?

We love watching the X-Games in Colorado. We attended the very first year-my son was in the sno-cross events. I think it drew around 2000 people if that. It was mostly competitor's and their parents and families. Now, 11 years later it drew over 450,000 people for the week event.

I love the Olympics and I am only 25! My sister (age 21) also loves the Olympics. I think it is funny that only "old" people watch the Olympics when almost all of the Figure skaters are still in High School, and most of the other althetes are in the 20-30 range! I agree that there should be a better balance between the special interest stories and the sports segments.

Please don't tell my DD12 that. She loves watching it, well we watch certain events.

I guess that I've been old just about my whole life then. I can't remember ever not watching the Olympics!

For someone who wanted to see more--they show it on CNBC and MSNBC at times I believe---and the last few Olympics--was it Nagano last time?? and the other locales for summer (Australia and Athens) do not lend to live coverage very well do to the time change. Hopefully it will be a bit better in Torino.

You really need to move to Canada for outstanding Olympic Games coverage. CBC-TV shows little more than Olympic coverage during the games, and most of it is live coverage (with reruns shown during "off" hours and for added coverage of Canadian performances.) Coronation Street fans go through withdrawal for 2 weeks every two years in Canada. The Olympic coverage seems to break for the news -- and that seems to get pre-empted if there's an amazing shot to be made in curling.

We laugh at the NBC coverage which seems to amount to little more than a few hours during prime time and little coverage of events in which Americans are not competing. My wife sees red when she hears the NBC figure skating commentators -- the American skater can be doing little more than sliding across the ice on her butt, yet the commentators seem to see no wrong in the performance.

Well this "old" person will be standing on the side of the mountain to cheer on the bobsledders and snowboarders!!!!!! And my 18 year old nephew will be standing next to me - I guess to hold me up! If only the old watch the Olympics, why do we feel like little kids waiting for Christmas!

36 days and counting until we leave!

Attending the Summer Games is one of my eleven remaining life goals.
I'm serious. :)
We're going to Beijing in 2008.

I get so aggravated that unless there is a top, top contender from another country we only (mainly) see Americans.
Your wife must never watch figure skating when (what's his name?) Dick somebody is commenting. He NEVER has anything positive to say...American or not.

I've loved watching the Olympics since I was a child. But now that I'm a 32 y/o old fogey, I must do what some clueless executives expect me to do. I really had my heart set on watching wannabe idols and their crappy urban yodling, but I'll just have to make do with toned athletes in skin tight body suits....in HD no less!

Now where'd my walker get off to?

Not meaning to start a debate, but the Americans have had the best female single skaters. If they have not won the gold, they have been a very close second. Usually in the top 3 spots there is a battle between 2 American skaters. So I think it is more than just the commentators, unless the judges are in on it too? :teeth:

I LOVE the Olympics, and have even when I was very young. I will watch both--the Olympics and AI. No need to choose when you can watch one and record the other! I do wish that we had better coverage though.....

I totally agree!

Both me and my DS (14) love winter and summer olympics. We are really sorry to see Softball will no longer be a Summer Olympic Sport. That is a real shame.
