Hi from a fellow NYer! :)

Our Disney trip was in October and I was so afraid of my ds getting sick before or while we were on our trip. I packed a ton of children's cold remedies, fever reducers, baby asprin, you name it. He escaped without with so much as a sniffle while I on the other hand was sick by day three. :sad2: My motto; hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

On a bright note...since they are sick now they should be over the worst of it by this weekend and hopefully built up some immunity. But don't forget to take care of yourself too! That is something us mommies tend to forget.

Have a great trip!

I went to Disney in July. We left for Disney on a Monday. Sure enough Friday my throat started hurting.. BAAAD. I went to the doctor on Saturday and the doctor said I had strep throat!!! I told the doctor that I was going to Disney on Monday and to please to make me better. He gave me a shot, an anti biotic and some kind of pain-killer cough medicine. I came home took the medicine and slept ALL day. I still felt kind of sick that Monday, but I felt 1000 times better. It was almsot like the minute I stepped in Disney i felt better. :lmao: I hope your family gets better and you have the best trip ever. :lovestruc

thanks all... it never fails, something always happens... thank god my sister is a PA, she is meeting us in WDW... if all else fails, she can prescribe some meds for my boys.. i'm keeping my fingers crossed.....:goodvibes it just stinks, cause you wait soooooo long for your vacation and then something like this happens.. it still is better than going to work... or my DS would say, going to school......:rotfl:...

All sick here to, but most of us are improving.

DD3 was the first one and was diagnosed with a UTI; given antibiotics and now good for now.

DD10 knock on wood is still healthy. I was temped at one point to give him a cup that DD13 drank out of just to get it over with.

DD13 two days after DD3s diagnose this one came down with the flu (H1N1 is the only one according to CDC now); defeated 3 days later, plus one day to be fever free.

DH sick for 4 days as well with flu, but much more severe then DD13. He lost 10 lbs in all and he is not overweight.

Myself - I've gotten a lot of support from my fellow DISers. After a week of suffering I finally went to the doc and was diagnosed with Positional Vertigo and told I could not drive for the next week and did not recommend me working for 1-2 weeks.:lmao:
Finally, after 3 1/2 weeks of that (got permission to drive one week later - thank God I thought my DH was going to kill me for having to drive me everywhere. Then back to back I was diagnosed with a sinus infection. The pain is so bad I can't look up. However, now I am on my second dose of antibiotics, which may be giving me the insomnia problems???? Or its just being stressed at work. If this round of antibiotics does not work (10 day regiment) then I need to go in for a CT scan. This would get me to Thanksgiving day and we leave for WDW the next day. So if I'm not better before Monday, I'm just going to call. Had to take a over the counter sleeping pill tonight just to help me sleep better.

As a few have commented in other threads; at least we are getting it all done before WDW. This is our 4th year in a row and we all usually pick up something.:sick::sick::yay::sick:

Prayers and thoughts for your DD that she get better soon! :santa:

I hate to say it but yes it is only you, nothing like this happens to anyone else. J/K :lmao:

Seriously tho, I really do hope that everyone is well by this weekend and you have a wonderful trip. *throwing a little pixie dust your way*

That is so us. DH ONLY comes down with Strep about 48-24 hours before we leave on any random WDW trp in the year. Doesn't matter, summer, winter whatever he'll be totally laid up for the entire rush to pack while requesting something about every 2.5 minutes to help him heal:rolleyes:.

The kids typically wait until we arrive if they come down with something so I have a kids med pack like no other since I've found out the hard way you can't get just anything in the resort gift shops.

We had our kids' first ever trip this past June. DS got off the bus on the last day of school with 102 temp. The van was loaded and we were planning a leisurely four day drive. DD had it by the second day and DH got it the last day and our first arriving at Disney. I held off until mid week and then got the worst of it requiring a trip to the clinic outside the gates.

The kids loved the trip anyway but DH says it was the worst trip ever. He's not a good diser anyway, so his opinion doesn't count. :lmao:

I hope everyone is feeling better!!!

These kind of things happen! Believe me! I had to take DD for an emergency visit to the DR at 4:30 in the afternoon the day before we left a few weeks ago!! She came home from school with a 102 fever!! Luckily the dr gave her antibotics and she was better in no time!

Hope you are all healthy soon! I think vacations are a magnet for things like this to happen, but once we get to Disney everything seems perfect! We went as a family in August and hurricane Bill decided to make our connecting flight in Baltimore delayed by SIX HOURS:eek: But we eventually got there and had a wonderful two weeks at OKW!
DD and I went two weeks ago, and we were both sick with different things two days before, but like the miracle that WDW is, we were both happy and healthy once we got there. Then we were both sick a week after we got home!
I swear that the doctor should write my family a prescription saying 'must be at Disney World for the goodness of their health'
Think happy thoughts and before you know it you'll be there enjoying yourselves!

OMG! I thought I was the only one with that kind of stuff happening!
So here are our vacation scenarios the past couple of years.
Trip to Oahu (amazing, 1 in a lifetime trip) DS 6 then wakes up puking a few hrs before our flight.
Next year road trip to WDW. DD 4 then wakes up in the night puking on our way down.
This year I have become neurotic b/c this seems to be a pattern. Cruise booked for 3/14. We leave home 3/13 and fly to Charleston, SC the day before to get on ship. OMG let me just say I am NOT a superstitious person, but I will NEVER EVER book anything on a Friday the 13th again. Fly Tulsa to Dallas. @ DFW plane gets stuck b/c of a missing sticker. A STICKER! we are held for 2 bloody hours for a sticker and miss our connection in Atlanta. it's Friday of spring break, so everyone is booked. Cruise ship is leaving @ 4PM the next day and everyone is telling us they can't get us on a flight until 7PM! We throw an almighty fit, someone manages to get us on a flight in the AM, but we have to get up at 4AM to get to the airport to get our boarding passes. We get to the hotel the airline put us up at around 10PM, so it's very late. Loud people in the hallway all night, honeymooners on the other side of the wall enjoying themselves immensely ALL NIGHT, elevator dinging, = no sleep for mama. We make it to the airport, catch our flights, and make the ship, just barely. by the time we got there, I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. And the whole time we heard other's horror stories about traveling that day.
DH and I took a quick trip to Napa last month and I was seriously paranoid something was going to happen, but thank God it didn't! No one got sick, we didn't get delayed for a sticker.

Seriously, after that Friday the 13th thing this year, I told DH I am not doing that again. We will drive! OMG it was insane!

I hope your fam is all well for your trip!
