My DD got her 1st one for her birthday today (7th) and they are really cute. She has been eyeing them for a while but we have so much AG stuff we haven't gotten into them yet.

DH's co worker picked one out because it has the same 1st name as my DD (actually between the dolls both of my girls 1st and middle names are in there.)

So anyone else have these dolls. The hair and clothes seem really good quality. They had a few of the little pets before just because they are so cute.

How are the books?

I got DD11 the dance studio which came with 2 dolls last year. I got lucky, I got it on clearance at Target for 20.00!! DD loves it. I am very happy with the quality. They very rarely go on sale though.

My girls both got some from Target last year for Christmas. I was trying to get away from Barbie and thought these looked like something that might help make that transition. They play with them ocassionally but my 5 year old still prefers the Barbies that her aunts get her. We haven't tried any of the books. I got each DD a doll, a change of clothes, the sleeping bag set, and a horse.

I think I might give DD another, or at least my youngest DD one. Dolls are more fun in sets of 2 or more. The doll prices aren't too bad, but the accessories can add up. On line they have outfits for $11 each. That is pretty high (since the dolls are only about $17 each, is the outfit really worth $11 and the doll just 6? Seems strange.

I also lucked out and got the ballet studio on Clearance 75% off. It came with 2 dolls, 1 extra outfit, accessories, and a book. My girls also already had a lot of the tiny pets, but these were our first dolls. Though a bit hard to dress (with the cloth arms/legs), they are excellent quality and a MUCH better alternative to the Polly Pockets my younger daughter loves. I always scan the toy aisles for Clearance when I'm in Target, so I was able to find a few extra outfits once when they transitioned their stock. Because I had the studio hidden away in the closet for a future gift, I snatched up the outfits and was able to present everything to my daughter all at once (along with a new pet, which only cost $2.99 regular price). My little one loves role-playing and make-believe, so these dolls are perfect for her. They don't get played with as often as I'd hoped, but for the price I paid, they are worth it. If you aren't sure your kids are going to play the heck out of them, I would definitely not recommend buying a bunch of clothing/accessories at regular price. My daughter can get the outfits off easily enough, but always has to bring me the new ones to put on (or else leaves it nude on the floor in frustration).

The book is a little bit cute but also cheesy. It is a story about one of the dolls, and it has live pictures of the dolls posed in it. It did not hold my girls' attention, but that's okay because my kids are not very easy on their books, and I'd rather it stay intact in the back of the bookcase than wrinkled and torn on the floor. That way, maybe I can give it along with a new doll as a gift to one of my child's friends.
