This will be our first time in 40+ trips to go without a car, and we will be trying to figure out best ways to advise friends and family of "bests" when renting them our DVC. Anyone done this recently and have input? As a rule, my husband is a very patient man, BUT not with public transportation...could be a southern thing (car dependent). Doing split stay: May 11-14 BLT, 14-16 BWV. ME to and from airport; then bus, boat, monorail and feet in parks.

I don't understand what your questions are. Could you be more specific!? There is a sticky at the top of the board about "how to get from point A to point B" as we'll if that's what you meant.

Will your dh find himself having to wait for a bus or two? Yep. Can't be avoided. Disney transportation is the same thing as public transit...but private (if that makes any sense!!!)
Buses run on a flexible schedule...about every 15 mins or so. Could be less, could be more..depends on time of day and park.
The boats are pretty much the same. And the monorail just keeps making the same ole loop.

So, I'm not exactly sure what info you are looking for. Yes, there will be waits. If you want specific info, let us know where you are heading, and from where.
DME will take you about 70 mins, from gate to resort checkin.

I suppose, specifically, my questions are things like:
Should we always try the routes that avoid TTC? I.e., last time I was there, with my kids, we went AKV to BB, then DTD.
Is boat or walking best from BWV to HS? We are very fit, but if time is equal, then I vote sitting is cooler! LOL!
Walk to buses from BLT, or Monorail to TTC when catching buses to other resorts, WP, or parks?

Well okay then...that gives us something to go on.
When at BWV, there is no need to ever go to TTC. There will be transportation to all parks from the resorts. From BLT? You will take the monorail to the TTC and transfer to the Epcot line. Otherwise, you will take a bus to AK and to DHS. You can walk over to MK in under 10 mins. There really is no need to go anywhere else to get to a park from BLT. Just walk over to the CR bus stop and hop on the desired bus.

From BWV? I love the walk to DHS. It takes well under 20 mins. If you decide to take the boat, it will take you about 20 mins once you are on the boat. The boat will go to YC/BC after BW, then to S/D and finally to DHS.

Oh...will walk...no boat-hokie-pokie for me.
