Only Disney Photographers Allowed at Dessert Parties?

I'm just curious about the "Disney photographers only" rule about in-park events. I've seen that stated over and over, yet it seems like a lot of people have photos from dessert parties, receptions, etc. that give credit to Randy Chapman or the Roots, for example. So now I'm confused ... has the rule changed?

TIA! :goodvibes

They did use to allow outside photographers for DP's (our wedding was May 1 2009). I'm not sure when exactly they stopped, I think it was the end of '09 maybe? Someone here is sure to know....

You can have them at one that isn't in Epcot or DHS, so I think that just leaves Sago Cay and the GF Marina (which are both amazing locations!)

OK, so if we want to use Morocco, we'd need to use a Disney photographer then, is that right?

What a bummer that they used to allow others but don't now. But I appreciate the info! :goodvibes

Some of the photographers have found ways around this. They are going as guests to the dp in EPCOT, and not being officially "hired" they can come. Just a guest with a really really nice camera.... We'll see if that has to come to an end too!!

This is true, but cast members now know the frequently used photographers so I guess that you would only manage to 'get away with' this if you had a relatively unknown photographer.

The rule of no outside photographers in parks is a fairly new one. I wouldn't have been able to, but I think there were some brides from about a year ago that still could. So there are still many brides (like Carrie) who have pictures in park from the Roots, Randy, or others.

I believe the rule was that if you signed your contract prior to Oct '08, you could. After that, it was DPS only in parks. We signed before that for our Jan '09 wedding.

Thanks everyone for clearing that up! :goodvibes

Now we'll just have to decide if it's worth it to do the Disney package for the DP or just hope we get some decent shots from our own cameras. :thumbsup2
