Only direct points can be used for Tokyo or others?

I am looking forward to travel to Japan in 2022... can I use DVc points at the 6m window? Only the direct ones, right?

Only direct or resale grandfathered in before the first round of restrictions, I believe in 2011.
You're not losing much, it's not a great value anyway.

You might consider renting your points and using that income instead.

That is pretty typical. The international properties tend to be on about a 3 month booking window or so. If you're planning further out, booking something cash is highly recommended.
