When are they going? RoL opens Feb. 17th and the new Pandora / Avatar stuff opens May 27th. If they're going in the summer after Pandora opens I would definitely suggest picking AK over HS.

They are going the first week in March.

What is RoL??

We went through this same dilemma and we were going to skip Epcot as there isn't as much to do there because my DD20 really wants to go to AK and I want HS. However, with the new express transportation we have decided to upgrade to park hoppers and hop from Epcot to MK one day as MK is open later. And Epcot has the Frozen attraction and the food & garden festival is going on & I don't want to miss that.

Personally, I wouldn't skip anything. I'd get hoppers and do AK & HS on the same day, when I have short trips I always get hoppers. I've had two 2-day trips and hopped both times. But if your friend doesn't have/want hoppers, I'd probably skip HS. There's more to do at AK right now and I think it's more little kid friendly.

If you don't mind the extra cost, I would get park hoppers so you have the ability to visit all the parks. If you don't to go that route, I would do a full day at MK, a full day at Epcot, and a full day at AK. Depending on which days you are there and which days have EMH, I would try to do AK the day before your MK day. Don't stay up too late the night before you have your MK day!

I hope you have a magical time!

As others recommended, find out main interests of kids, and also have to consider MIL and FIL. 4 days would be ideal as we don't like to skip any parks. But since they have only 3, if kid(s) are really into SW, I would definitely do HS and try to get FP for TSM. If not, I would probably do AK. I would help them make sure they have FP set up, use Rope Drop, and have a good plan of must-dos and what to get done 1st/with FP, so they can get most out of their time and avoid standing in lines and back tracking as much as possible.

We always choose to skip AK. Not my cup of tea and DD was bored to tears when we spent the day there a few years ago. If DH pushed the issue and really wanted to spend a day there, we would. Thankfully, he hasn't done that!

We'd take a pass on AK. TOT is our second favorite ride on property so we're not missing it, TSMM & RnRC are also tier 1 for us. But if a hopper is an option that's the way to go. :earsboy:

I will get boos but I am going to suggest skipping both AK and HS. Do MK on two days and Epcot in the middle.

btw getting each person a park hopper would add ~$360 to your trip for one day of hopping? No.

We just spent 3 days at the parks, and this is exactly what we did. 2 days MK, 1 day Epcot... keeping in mind that our last two trips we went to AK so we were fine skipping it. If it were me, I'd want those 2 days at MK but then the 3rd day could be based on the family's preference. AK could be a great choice for a park too. I haven't been to HS for a long time but I've heard from many people that there isn't quite as much to do there right now.

We went the WDW for the first time last week, and we all LOVED Animal Kingdom! We were there from open to close and felt like there was still so much we didn't get to!

We skipped DHS, so I can't comment on that, but my kids weren't as into Epcot as I hoped they would be.

If we only had 3 days, we would definitely do 2 MK days and 1 AK day. There's no way 1 day would be enough for MK. That was by far everyone's favorite place to be.

I would skip DHS due to all of the construction. I don't care much for Epcot Future World either but at least there's World Showcase.

I am going to agree with all of the MK for 2 days, Epcot for 1 OR the park hopping split day comments. Unless they are huge Star Wars fans, then I would say HS. Personally, I skipped AK on our last trip because we have a very nice zoo at home and AK didn't really wow me. Expedition Everest is great, but we decided we werent going to go just for that. But, with park hoppers you could go for a few choice attractions and then head to HS or vice versa depending on which evening entertainment they prefer.

What if they had single day tickets and just added a hopper to the last day? Can you do that and do you have to pay the hopper price for the entire trip? I have APs and before that always had hoppers so I don't now the ins and outs of tickets.

I am not sure, but I think the price is the price. If they are going to add hoppers, I would add them for the entire trip and use them.

OP- personally I would skip Epcot and either DAK or DHS, depending on the children's interests. I would do two MK days, and one in either park the the kids want to visit. DAK is stunning and when you combine the animals, the shows and the details throughout the park, and add in at least the Tree of Life awakenings to completed the day, it is a full day. I honestly cannot imagine trying to get all of the MK done in one day.

It's always interesting to read threads like this. Every family has their favorite and least favorite Park and you need to decide what is best for your family. That may even change based on how old your children are for a particular trip.

For our family, AK is a half day Park. There just aren't enough rides and attractions that interest US to make it a full day. Some people say HS is that way for them. We, on the other hand, find plenty to fill an entire day there. Same goes for EPCOT. We love it so much that we make it a 2 day park!

So my advice is make a list of what rides, attractions and food you want to experience and decide for yourself. :)

A little different point of view here - I would purchase single day tix (to save $) and spend 2 days at MK and 1 day at AK. Attraction-wise, I think these 2 parks have the most that will appeal to the children. So I would skip HS and EP (in that order - i.e., if adding a third, then add back EP).
