It looks like we may only have 1 1/2 day in Animal Kingdom, in the afternoon, what should we really try to hit. Kids are 2.5 and 6.

The Safari and Tarzan Rocks are my DD4's favorites (and mine). Pocahontas is fun and so is the Lion King. I liked It's Tough to be a Bug, but DD did not. In the past, I have allowed for a full day at AK, but we never end up needing the whole day to get all the stuff we want done.

K Safari - must see for all ages.
Lion King - Great break from the hot weather.
Might want to check out the parade too.

Must Sees
- Safari Ride
- Festival of the Lion King

Fun for a 2.5 and 6 year old
- safari walking trails (there are two - Maharajah & Pangani (sp?))
- Boneyard Dig (like a playground)
- It's Tough to Be a Bug (maybe - scares some kids)

Those would be my top 5 things in a half day with kids your ages (mine are almost 6, 4, and 2.5 now).

Other things if time allows:
- rides in Dinoland, near the Boneyard
- Tarzan Rocks
- Flights of Wonder (bird show)
- Pocahontas SHow (small w/furry woodland animals)
- the parade is good, too!

Enjoy!

Animal Kingdom is my least favorite park but when I go to Disney I would not consider my trip complete if I did not see

Lion King!!!

I went the year AK opened and saw no animals on the safari - I found it really disappointing - this is the first year I will have enough time to give the park another chance (10 days vs. 4 days the past 3 years!)

others might disagree but under no circumstance should you take your 2.5 to see "tough to be a Bug" I took my 2.5 niece and it seriously upset her - screaming and yelling - they "sting" you in the back and I think it is way too intense for little ones - I know a lot of people who have had this experience- my DD is almost 3 and is tall enough for Tower of terror - which I plan on letting her ride (in other words - she is pretty brave) and I would not take her into the Bug show -

I agree on the Tough To Be A Bug recommendations. Personally, I'm almost 50 and I find Tough To Be A Bug rather intense........I'm not all that fond of scaring the crap out of the children when we're on vacation either. :jester:

The safari is fun for all ages and as far as live shows, I'd take them to the one that they pick as their favorite movie.

The parade is COOL.....so I'd try to catch that as well.

Have fun!

*I* won't sit through It's Tough to be a Bug again. Scary scary. Don't take a young child to it.

We easily did AK in a morning, we saw Lion King (MUST SEE), Tarzan Rocks! (loud, but Tarzan wears next to nothing and is hot so was worth it to me LOL), rode the Primevel Whirl, Dinosaur and Its Tough to be a Bug... that's all I remember.

I think you can def hit the highlights, which would be Safari and Lion King IMO. We haven't done the safari yet, but I think its the whole point to AK really. Dinosaur is good, but not appropriate for small children. My husband enjoyed it.

Remember that it closes really early, so get there as soon as you can. =)

who are you going with? Do you have children and what ages are they? SnoWhiteRabbit did a nice job setting up the age groups for you. I like the Dinosaur ride. But it may be too sacary for small children. I also love bugs life, Safari Ride, and the water rapid ride ( i forgot the name of it ) We loved the lion king, this time we are going to see tarzan. very excited about that.

The Boneyard!!! It's the play area in Dinoland. My 4 year old loved the part where you dig for fossils. Your youngest is too small for a lot of rides in the park, but Dinoland has some things just for little ones. Mine like the Triceritops Spin.

Don't go to the bug movie. Stick to the 3D flicks in MK and MGM. I also think Dinosaur might be too scary for your oldest, but it depends on how brave he is. My oldest did Tower of Terror with no problem but was afraid of Dinosaur.

If one parent is taking the oldest on some of the bigger rides, you might want to take the youngest over to the Camp area when the characters are out.
