Only 3 ADR's??

My husband and I are heading south to WDW for a 10-day in a few weeks (Aug 31 - Sept 9). We are staying with good friends of ours who live in Kissimmee. (And, we are VERY excited since we haven't been down there in a year and a half!! )

Anyway, we do not to the DDP or EMH because we don't stay on-property. This trip, we've decided to really limit our ADR's in the hopes of actually saving some money on food. We only have three ADR's:

Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare - Sept 1
Lunch at San Angel Inn - Sept 5
Dinner at 50's Prime Time - Sept 7

We will likely eat breakfast most days at our friends house before leaving to head to the parks...and will possible eat only a few dinners in the parks...

But, I'm just wondering, will we be able to find great CS food in all of the parks? Or will we regret not having more ADR's?


I would love to get a Le Cellier ADR, but that is proving much harder than I originally thought...

The three places you've chosen are not exactly the highest-rated dining experiences. I would head over here: http://land.allears.net/reviewpost/showcat.php?cat=32 and check out the places you might be interested in. Both table-service and counter-service meals are reviewed, and most have menus available too.

You're going during Free Dining so LeCellier may be a lost cause. But if you keep trying the Disney reservation site, you should be able to come up with a lot of great places. I can highly recommend breakfast with Pooh & Friends at the Crystal Palace. For Epcot we loved Teppan Edo, Biergarten, and, of course LeCellier. I don't have any great recommendations for the Studios and we've only eaten counter-service at Animal Kingdom.

We have eaten at Teppan Edo, Sci-Fi Theater, Whispering Canyon Cafe, CRT (lunch), and Tusker House (lunch). Since we've already been to these places (and enjoyed all of them), we thought we would try other places....

We thought it would be fun to try a Character breakfast buffet this time...originally tried for Chef Mickey's, but am having trouble getting an ADR there (for 4 people) as well.

I've been intrigued by San Angel Inn ever since we saw the restaurant on our last trip. The ambiance is pretty cool!

The one that I'm MOST thinking about changing would be 50's Prime Time for dinner. That is the night that the 5 of us are having dinner together in the parks. Amy recommendations for that night that won't break the bank?

We enjoy Prime Time very much. The food is fine and the experience is unique. Re: CS, here are our favs:
MK - Columbia Harbor House (great sandwiches) & Cosmic Rays (good variety and roast chicken)
AK - Flame Tree (barbeque, good sized meals)
Epcot - Sunshine Seasons in The Land (amazing variety, good breakfast) & bakeries in France & Norway
DHS - Starring Rolls (pastry & sandwiches)

Chef Mickey's will be hard to get since you are going during free dining. Keep trying, even after you arrive. Go to guest services every morning and ask.

San Angel Inn, the ambiance is cool, the food is not edible. Probably the worst meal we've ever had on property. Go on the boat ride instead and eat somewhere else. Trust me, if you've only got 3 TS, you don't want to go here.

Can't say that I love any of the HS TS dinner choices. If you can go to a different park, what about dinner at Germany in Epcot (Biergarten)? Fun theming, good food choices, all-inclusive buffet pricing and not the most expensive on the property. AND you might still be able to get a ressie.

If time away from the parks is not a huge barrier, what about something a little off the beaten path like Maya at Coronado Springs? Or even Pepper Market, which is technically QS but behaves more like a TS meal (though still at QS prices)? Or the TS/QS options at POR? Again, those places might be a lot easier to get into.

Ummm for your information, I am Hispanic and absolutly can tell the difference between "Real" Mexican food and Taco Bell, which BTW I won't eat at.

I stand by my statement, if I only had 3 TS meals I wouldn't eat here.

Okay, I have added another ADR for lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. I'm going to give DH the choice of which one we will go to.

I think that you will find plenty of yummy CS meals!! I thought I'd list some of our favorite's for you:

Sunshine Season: They have a great pork chop with mashed potatoes! Their chicken dinner is nice as well.

Pecos Bill's: Love their pulled pork sandwiches and the taco salad. Great fixin's bar!

Tamu Tamu Refreshments (AK): Yummy vanilla shakes and burgers with chips. A simple meal, not overly expensive.

Contempo Cafe: I've always found it VERY hard to find good pizza @ WDW but on our trip in March I discovered that CC has a great pepperoni flat-bread that is quite tasty and reminiscent of a wood fired pizza.

I'm sure I will think of more and I'll post when I do!!

Check right now for Chef Mickeys! They released a TON of times and dates for August this morning. I am leaving in 12 days and was finally able to book a 9:00am breakfast today.
