Only 1 Month Away - Airline Ticket Help!

Hi everyone,

We were idiots and did not purchase tickets on SWA when they had a great Ding rate because we weren't sure if we could go or not.

Now we have the okay to go but the rates have risen considerably.

Which way should I go:

1 - Purchase tickets on Airtran now available for $50-70 more per ticket round trip (1 hour closer to home)

Or

2 - Wait for SWA to possibly release a Ding?

The trip is now only one month away!!!

I don't think I would wait on a Ding... Plus all the Ding's I have seen lately have been on days like Tuesday and Wed only. You probably don't have that flexibility this late.

However, AirTran is likely to keep going up so buy soon!

I would not hesitate to buy tickets immediately. Prices will almost certainly only go up as availability decreases.

we need to get our tickets for Sept. I think I would go ahead and get them!!!! we are flying on Air tran also!

You're going to have to buck up and buy 'em. With only a month to go, you risk flights selling out, especially N/S ones. You don't want to have to fly back on the 6:10 a.m. flight or whatever. Many of their sales fares (released every Tuesday) requre a 21-day advance purchase.

And SWA has gotten smarter with DING! and seems to be using them to fill seats on loosely booked flights (e.g. the Tuesday/Wednesday thing).

We went ahead and purchased the Airtran tickets last night as they were having a fare frenzy to Florida which cut the price a little.

The SWA would have been less expensive but we wanted either a Fri-Mon or a Sat-Mon and that is unusual for Dings.
