Sorry if this has been posted before. Starting about 3 hours ago, if you log in, you can check availability of all the resorts, and book on line!!!

It also gives you choices if your dates or size rooms are not available. You can also waitlist on line now! :cool1:

Way to go Disney! I have Starwood and Marriott timeshares too and this is the first true online reservation system I have seen.

Katherine

I wonder if they rolled it out in phases. I got the notice yesterday and when I logged on the day before to try to see my point balance, the online booking was still not available for me yet. I actually just ended up calling to make the ressie. Then the next day boom, it was in my account AND I could make another ressie at the same time. :)

In any case, it's a great new feature and I am very excited! Katherine

Sorry if this question has been answered somewhere before, however I am currently waiting on our first DVC contract in ROFR right now so this is all new to me....but will the online system allow you to book a room and allow you to borrow from the next use year or do you have to call for that type of booking?

Apparently you can borrow but I am not sure if you can bank points! Here is what is on the front page of DVCmember.com:

Book a Disney Vacation Club Resort Online
Now you can book a Disney Vacation Club Resort online using your Vacation Points! With this new feature, you can borrow points to make your reservation, or if your Resort is unavailable when you want to visit, you can create a waitlist request. Once you receive confirmation of your booking, you can visit the Vacation Center to review your reservation and, for most accommodations, add a dining plan to your stay.

Banking points has been available on the member website for some time now.

Yes it was rolled out in phases the online booking. MS told me it started 1/19 which for me it did but not until the afternoon and within 3 days everyone would be able to do it. And yes as PP said banking can be done on line it has been for a while, which is great! I do believe you can also borrow points when booking. The only snafu I ran into was my x-mas res. we are staying for 10 nights and after 7 I had to call to add on each day wanted to make sure I got our standard view 2 bdrm BLT for all nights!

Even when you call to make a reservation you can only book 7 nights at a time, so I would assume that the oneline booking would be the same as those that call to make reservations

Were your balances updated immediately or was it just a request sent to member services to process?

It is immediate and it's a live booking, not just a request for reservation! You can get a confirmation number right away! Very nice.

Unfortunately, the DVCmember website is down a LOT these days and is very slow on other days. I have a feeling everyone is trying out the new system. Argh. Took me over 10 minutes just to log in this morning!

Balances are updated immediately, at least they were the last time I banked onine. That was a couple of years ago though.

I did ask this question on another thread and someone reported that that is still the case.
