Online reservation site confusing

I'm trying to book a studio in jan 2013. I have 82 pts remaining in this use year. My use year is December. When I try to make a reservation, the site is telling me I have 180 pts in 2012 but it's not showing my remaining 82 points. Does anyone understand why?
I called today to try to book that way but got a not very helpful person on the phone .

Were they banked 2010 points? Those would expire on Nov 30, 2012.

If they are current year points (Dec 2011), did you bank them already?

Finally, check the member website to see what you have in your contract.

No they are 2011 points which are not banked. I have until aug 1 to bank. I checked my vacation points and those points are showing as available .

You need to bank them first if you want to use them in Jan '13. If not banked, they expire Nov 30, 2012.

I know I used banked points to make an online reservation and it asked me if I wanted to use the previous year points before I had to bank them. This is confusing to me, also. Ask to talk to a Supervisor and see if they can help straighten it out for you.

You can not use December 2011 points for a January 2013 reservation, unless you bank them prior to making the reservation.. December 2011 points must be used for stays no later than November 30, 2012. January 2013 is in your 2012 use year.

This is one of the known "features" that Disney developers forgot. I found it interesting that you can start to book a reservation and then borrow points mid process but you cannot bank points mid process. You do have to back out, go to the banking option, bank at least the points that you want for a specific reservation, then go back in and start the booking process again. Silly to say the least. Of course now that I know that I can bank first before starting to book. It just seems like banking and borrowing should both be available from within the booking process.

Yes, this almost got me the other day. It was the 11 month day and when I went to book my trip it wouldn't give me the option of using my 89 2012 points, and then a light bulb went off and I realized since the trip was in 2013 I had not banked those points, so I quickly went to the banking section (after remembering how to do it) and banked the 2012 points, then pulled up the reservation again (hoping it was going to still be available -- standard room BLT) and it was and now my 89 points were available to use to book. Note to self, remember to bank when booking a trip in the next UY.

I'm thinking they may have purposefully not allowed banking from within the reservation screens. I can imagine some inexperienced users banking when they didn't really want to if there is a pop up window.
