How do I make sure that a photo is under 800k? When I re-size something using photobucket, it gives a certain dimenstion (like 640 x 480) but not the overall size. This is something that has bugged me for a loooooong time.

Right click on the full image and click properties

Is there a reason you picked the 800KB limit?

the website (twitter) said the photo can't be bigger than 800k.

That's typically if you upload them to their website....I don't use twitter so I can't say for sure but in this case you are uploading them to a different website.

Generally you don't set a filesize ahead of time, it is determined by what resolution your photo is and what JPG quality you choose. (JPG quality is the amount of compression - higher compression means a smaller file but worse image quality.) You can also save it without exif or iptc data to make it slightly smaller.

That being said, the latest version of Irfanview does have the ability to let you choose a file size. Open an image, select Save As, and one option is to set the file size.
