The greyhound group I work with has a dog that needs itraconazole to heal her...the good news is with a 6 month treatment she should be fine. The bad news is the treatment needs to last 6 months! Plus, itraconazole costs about $22 a DAY for treatment at regular pharmacies. ($22 X 180 = $3960)

Prissy was recently returned to us by her owner who just didn't feel like dealing with the hassle. THe head of our group heard that pharmacies in places like Canada or Mexico have itraconazole much more reasonably than the US does..does anyone know of any online sources of out of country pharmacies?

Is this the cost at a "person" pharmacy?

If it is, then I would contact your vet and see if they can get it for cheaper.

If that is the best price your vet can get, then you can try the online pharmacies.

Personally, if it was one of my patients, I would be leery if they were buying their medications from an online pharmacy that is not reputable or affiliated with a big chain.

Counterfeit drugs are prevalent. This particular drug, because it is relatively uncommon, would probably not be a big target for drug counterfeiters.

yup--it's a human drug......there's no animal equivalent...

The head of my group works at one of the top vet school in the country.....we're hitting a wall with everything US pharmacy related....
