online National rental...charge immediately?

Looking at placing a rental reservation for National, online, using some of the codes and tips from mousesavers. However, when reading 'small' print on quote, it states 'a minimum of 8 days will be charged'...does this mean that they charge the credit card immediately when making reservation on line? Or does this mean that you're obligate to a minimum of 8 days, when you actual pick up the car and can't change the number of days? It's a decent rate, but I don't want to have to pay now for the rental. Help!

They do not charge right away. If it says min. of 8 days if you turn the car in early they still will charge you the full amount.

I have a reservation with them as well, and haven't been charged at all.

By the way... I read something (I think on here?) from someone who said they'd had an enormous amount held on their credit card by National, so I called earlier today, and was told that they'll only place a hold on the actual amount of the vehicle rental.

We used the code stacking thing also and we not charged until after we returned the car. The hold they palced was the actual amount of the rental. They didn't put a temporary authorization on though until after we picked up the car.
