Online dining Ressies for DVC

We are going in January and staying using my parents DVC points although the reservation is in our name.

When it comes time to do online ressies will it need to go through the DVC site or can I do it through the regular WDW site?

I've only made ressies through the WDW site; I didn't realize there was on option on the DVC member site...or maybe I did and it links you to the WDW site.

I don't know. My mother has never used online reservations before. But I know that the last time we went on DVC points I couldn't add anything to my DVC reservation or even call in and ask questions everything had to go through her (although I could make my dining ressies).

Does disney have a way to try it before hand? A test mode? Seems like they should. I am super nervous about doing it online.

yes, i just put in my resort confirmation number. you can go to the site and play around w/dates. don't put in your confirm number yet because it will "throw you out." you can pick a park/resort and play-like you are booking a ADR just to get a feel for the system. it is very user friendly. When On line reservations were first introduced earlier this year, the system was not recognizing DVC cofirmation numbers. That issue has been fixed. I was able to book all of my ADR's at my 90 + 10 day by entering my DVC Confirmation number in the reservation site.
As a PP stated you can practice. I looked for a date 90 days from today to practice with. I never went all the way to booking, just enough to be comfortable with navigating the site.
