Online dining reservations

I finally got the DVC opening message, pressed 1 to get Member Services, then the line rang no less than 30 times. It finally stopped ringing and the menu options repeated and I had to press 1 for MS again. I finally got the welcome to MS recording and now I'm just holding. :rolleyes1

I got that far and then the line went dead. I'm so tire of dealing with this since 5:30AM this morning. I was going to do the delux dining but at this point I'm ready to drop it off of my split stay reservation. Good luck. I just can't get anywhere today.

I just got a person and she said that there's a "global outage" of the system right now. Not sure if that's true. She advised me to check back periodically by phone or on the website and actually said "or if you frequent the DIS boards, watch there to see if the system has come back up." :thumbsup2

Since I had her on the phone, I made my room location requests for our trip in 10 days. I have a SV 2br dedicated at BLT and requested even-numbered room, north facing. She asked if I wanted to request higher up, too and I told her no, that I didn't think I could be that high up and kind of laughed and said that it was probably crazy, but I knew the specific room I was hoping to get. We ended up having a conversation about the room view thread here, which she thought was awesome, and she said "Why don't I note that number in the request, too? It can't hurt!"

It's always such a pleasure to talk with someone who is helpful and doesn't act like the internet is some vast wasteland of rumors and inaccurate info. ;)

9:18 a.m. EST

Just spoke with a CM at Member Services, who informed me everything is down. EVERYTHING. Nobody can make ressies for anything. Nothing online, nothing through WDW Dining, and nothing through DVC Member Services.

Viva la Disney! :-)

At least EVERYONE is in the same boat - and it's just a matter of who calls back often enough to know when things are back online. Felt bad for the CM I talked to - she seemed to know it was going to be a VERY long day for her.

That's exactly what I was told, too.

Put another goose egg up on the board for Disney IT!

It's not like we all didn't see this coming. Too bad Disney didn't do a better job of converting the ADR change better.

I got thru to MS as well. She plugged in my dining request, waited 15min for the computer to "cycle", and then she got word that everything was down. After 2 minutes on the phone, she said there were 140 phones in the queue.

Did anyone not foresee this? Seriously, everyone and their mother calling today for ressies in the next 180 days.
Disney's computer system can hardly handle the daily log of calls, much less this onslaught. Oh well, at least I was able to get my Jan ressies before today. If we eat in our villa in April, it won't be the end of the world.

Rolling out to smaller groups may have prevented such a huge incoming demand on the system (each day open another half month of availability), but that would have confused too many folk.

ANY method of doing it gradually would have been better. Even a month of availability every week. :sad2:

I was sort of fortunate, in that I called WDW DINE on my cell and successfully made ressies. BUT...it was after discovering online was down at 5:30...redialing from 7:00 to 8:04...and on hold for 25 minutes. At least I got almost all of what I wanted, and the times I wanted. Sounds like a lot of folks didn't even get through yet. :grouphug:

Good luck, everyone!princess:pixiedust:

I have been trying to get dining ressies for Feb since 3 am and I still haven't gotten ANY! I got off my shift at 12mid, slept for about an hour then got up to boock and the online reservation did not roll over to 180 days, it only rolled over 1 day. So I tried for about 45 min then went to bed and got up at 6am to try the on line reservation again, but the system was down. Then I started calling at 6:55am and redialed constantly until 11:30. I tried both the Disney dining # and DVC. I finally was able to get through to DVC, was on the phone with them for 1 1/2hr trying to get atleast 1 reservation, but the system went down again!!!! UUGGHH !!! But the M that was assisting me took all my requests and said she would work on it and call me back. She sounded very sincere, so I hope she calls me back!!! Oh and I did get her name....... Good luck to anyone calling DVC or Disney dining today.:surfweb:

After calling for an hour, I finally got through but the reservation system is still not working and they can not book at this point. I will just keep on trying and hope I get through while the system is up and running. I only need reservations for January 26th, I couldnt call yesterday cause it was only open 90 days out and I missed it by 2 days lol. Good luck to everyone:wizard:

 just got my reservations made for my March trip and got everything I wanted:banana:

I called around 11:00 this morning and got a great rep on the phone....took about 45 minutes but was only able to book three of my dining reservations due to the slow system....Le Cellier, Narcoossee's amd tepan Edo....Then her system totally locked up...she took my other requests and said she would book them and call me as soon as here system came back up....Just got the call and I am set!!!!!!!! Also got Tutto Italia and Sanaa....

Can we post CSR's names on the board????? If not think Alladin and you will know her name! She was a princess for helping me out like that....Thanks!

I just got through(on the phone) and everything was up and running. I couldn't get one of my ressied b/c Crystal Palace is closed part of January and February. Im bummed b/c that has been a tradition to go there every trip, but we will have to try a new one this time. Good luck to the rest of you.

Just tried online (Sorry, the booking system is currently unavailable) and via the Dining Reservation phone number (all circuits are busy). Still need to make our ADR's starting with March 1st. I was really hoping to do it all online. There's just something about seeing the confirmation versus being told it on the phone.

A wonderful MS woman helped me just now to make sure we got the coveted Chef Mickey's for the first morning we arrive. The dining system blanked out on her no less than 3 times during our call and the reservation numbers were increasing at an astronomical rate (by about 30,000-50,000 in just over 7 minutes) That's a LOT of reservations being processed!

The worst part, to me (I love making usable systems) was that this is frustrating the MS CMs to the point they want to cry. Add the slow access and crashing to the fact that apparently the change in software that was made so that we could book our own reservations, also took away the CM's ability to see the blocks of times open for any given place or park. Now they have the same interface we have. I understand restricting our access but what sherlock thought that one out?

BTW - I called at 4:45, got through to her at 5pm on the dot and it took her 30 minutes to book 4 reservations in addition to some room & ME changes I had. At 5:30 she told me there were still 100 people in the call queue waiting (the system doesn't hang up on people who got into the queue before closing)

We finally got through on the Disney Dining line and made 13 dining reservations for our 8-day stay in March 2010. We got everything we wanted except for Teppan Edo and San Angel which, according to the CM, were not showing up on her reservation system. We called around 5:00 PM CDT and were on hold for about 15 minutes. Once our call was answered, the CM was able to make our ADRs in less than 15 minutes.

We had been trying since 7:00 AM to make our ADRs via either the online system or the WDW-DINE number. It wasn't until 5:00 PM that we finally got through.

I read on the restaurant thread to just hit redial if/when you get the "all circuits busy" message. It worked, I was in the queue within 10 minutes and 10 minutes later I got what I want. The time I did this was between 6:30 and 7PM. 4 dinner reservations for the time frame March 21 to 27.

Dinner at
Le Cellier
Cali Grill
Tutto Italia
Cape May Cafe,

I also bought our MVMCP tickets. We're all set now, for 3 upcoming visits! December, January and March!:goodvibes

I just got through on the phone and got all the standard recordings. Then when it got to the estimated hold time it said "in..." and the music started before the number was stated. I don't think that's a good sign. :lmao:

That's what happened to me. The same loop of MK songs kept playing, but don't worry, I was talking to someone within 10 minutes.

Same thing here, except for the 10 minutes part. I'll be singing "I'm walking right down the middle of Main Street USA" for days now! :rotfl:

The whole call took 31 minutes - 20 minutes on hold, time with the CM to make 3 ADRs and then I did the survey after. The CM I spoke with was great, though.
