Online Dining Reservations -- What it Could Look Like...

I thought I'd share this. Tonight, 11/17 @ 9:00 pm, the English version of Tokyo Disneyland's online vacation booking engine went live. TDL is not owned by Disney the same way WDW is, however, in addition to being able to book rooms and park tickets online for the first time, you can also make table restaurant reservations. It is all very well integrated; the options are thorough and clearly laid out.

Here is a link for the home page. http://www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/vm/en/ You will have to set up a dummy reservation and figure out the links to the dining reservations on your own. It's terribly efficient in a way only the Japanese can provide.

I have posted this because I find it interesting that Disney is in the process of establishing their own online ADR system. The Tokyo version is very professional and may, in some roundabout manner, be serving as a guide of what's to come. Maybe not. Either way, see for yourself.

WOW - just WOW! I can't believe what a pain it is to get your reservation set up. Bedshare?!?! REALLY? :rotfl:

I am working on setting up a mock and then I think I am just going to take some screen shots to post here.

I'll post them in the sticky thread about the new ADR system and if you don't mind Condorman I'll just quote the text from your post so you get credit for finding this.

What a mess, I don't have time to navigate it this morning, but if anyone can give a poor girl a hint on where to go once you have your mock reservation in your cart (before they take your credit card info :scared1:) to make your ADR's online - I'll be happy to use snag it to post pictures here for all to see.

Seems a waste for all of us to spend 10 minutes (minimum) setting up mock accounts when a picture can show a lot of detail.

Ok, this is what I did, I entered dates sometime in May and picked a hotel with 3 nights, after I clicked on order, it them lets you pick a number of guests in your room. After you click next next step, or something like that, you can click "Select online reservation privileges" Then you click the "edit" button, and you can pick the date, restaurant and it shows you what is available. I hope I explained it ok, I actually thought it was pretty neat.

Thanks for the tip - I was going WAY too far (and hurrying too much)

I've got 9 pics and am working on uploading them to photobucket.

My bad -- I should've given full instructions. Truth be told, even after I did it the first time I struggled to do it again. But "LoveMyBoys" has it correct.

If for nothing else, the most impressive thing about the process, at least on my computer, is the "snappiness" of the response time between clicks and new screen pop-ups. It's leagues above anything on WDW's site. The entire process could be streamlined, and I'm hoping WDW makes it that way with large, obvious buttons and clear-cut times and policies, etc.

The Tokyo Vacation Maker site could have been designed in-house by the owners of TDL, or it could have been outsourced. It may look nothing like what we're getting from WDW or it could be very close. I just thought it was interesting to see how to make ADR ressies on a Disney website.

And Tricia1972, feel free to post this info on the sticky. I saw it only after I posted. Sorry.
