Online dining reservation abuses?

Hmmm...this isn't how I remember it. I could have sworn it was making me choose 1 restaurant to cancel. I inadvertently booked the same ressie 2x, so it was an error on my part.

I guess I was wrong, but I could have sworn that it was making me cancel - sorry about that.

No worries, looks like the system changed recently I was wrong too. :lmao:

The system doesn't even warn you anymore. I just successfully booked (and canceled) Tusker House at 6:15 on October 9th and Turf Club at 6:10 on October 9th. 2 Adults. No window of warning, just a confirmation number. :confused3

(Before I get scolded - they're canceled and available for any of you with a burning desire to go to Turf Club for a romantic dinner for two on my birthday - have some cake for me!)

You buying?

hehehhehehehe

Hmmm. Making no ADRs and then just showing up is sounding better and better.

So how long do you think it will take Disney to either institute a system that requires you to use your room reservation number to book ADR's, therefore only allowing you one reservation per time slot

or

requiring a credit card number to book reservations that will be charged if you do not show or cancel at your reservation time.

Probably the OOP reservatin ! They looked at the prices in shock and just walked away :rotfl:
I saw this happen my last visit, maybe 7 times. Family with reservation would look at the menu and walk. Heard them cancel at front podium. With the economy maybe this is happening more. We are the lucky ones who are informed ahead of time from this board about prices. We are also lucky that we can still go ....

We have two threads on basically the same thing, double booked ADR's, merging so we keep the discussion in the same place. :goodvibes

Sadly, I cant say this surprises me. The system they have makes it more convienant but it also makes it very simple to double book. Hope the kinks get worked out in the future.

I personally think that it is because people are cutting back and not eating at TS in Disney to make their trips more affordable. Maybe the restaurants didn't have ressies for that time. Not every one goes on the dining plans.

I purposely booked 2 reservations within an hour of one another because we couldn't decide between two restaurants at Hollywood Studios, so DH said we should have lunch at one and go to the other for dessert and a drink (1:00pm for lunch, 2:10 for dessert). That is what we are doing so that we can try them both and have seating at both.

I sure hope mine aren't considered too close together.

thats an interesting idea, they only problem that I see is that even with reservations, we rarely got seated on our reseration time, and it seems to take over an hour to eat a meal there!!

When I accidentally booked two during the same session (didn't have enough people on one of them), it made me cancel one. I wasn't able to get the one without cancelling the other. Again, this only happens if its in the same session.

I really don't think they will have many people double booking. When we made our reservations the CM just said that you could make your reservations on the 90 day mark but didn't say that if you didn't you probably wouldn't be eating. Many more people go than the people on the DIS and don't know that you NEED to make reservations.

I'll go try again, for the exact same restaurant at the same time.

I can tell you that my experience today was that I had no issue double booking (two reservations 5 minutes apart at two different restaurants)

I just attempted to double book Tusker House. It gives you this message (bolding is mine)

It appears that 2 or more of your dining offers are within one hour of each other. If the offers are for the same dining party, please remove the conflicting offer(s). If these offers are for different parties, please continue with your booking.

but it will let you double book.

Good luck getting an official stance on anything like this out of Disney - even when persons who ask receive an answer via phone or e-mail from Disney, it's sometimes found in practice that what the Disney rep set forth is not what actually happens at all. Disney is either inconsistent on a lot of things, or their CMs often give out incorrect information, or both.

Yesterday I called to asks about an ADR confirmation # and what did I know, all of the ADRs that I had cancel online to make new ones were never canceled so the nice CM went with over each one just to make sure that I kept the ones I wanted. I had like 4 ADR's double booked without my knowledge because the online system didn't cancel them:scared1::scared1:

Just wanted to report on what we are observing - we are on Day 13, and leave tomorrow night, so 14 days in total.

We are seeing tons of empty tables at all restaurans, despite being sold out. These include: Chef Mickey's and Tusker House breakfasts. Have been speaking to CMs, who are saying that with the advent of online ADRs, they are getting tons of no shows. This is allowing for some walk-ups or for some of us to get in to our tables a bit earlier than expected. The other night at The Wave for instance, they said they had only 1 ADR left, so pretty much a sell out, yet when we were seated, and for the next 1.5 hours of dinner, there were at least 20 empty tables in the entire restaurant - tons of no shows according to the CMs.

Just wanted to remind people to cancel their ADRs if not necessary, so that someone else can use them.

Hope this info helps, Tiger :)
thanks for the information, it gives me some hope. I have some great ressies & times i just cant get an early dinner for arrival day on one of my reservations so im hoping there is some last minute availability due to cancellations or no shows.

Keep checking online each day as I've secured 2 very hard ressies - Chef Mickey's (breakfast) and 1900 Park Fare (dinner) - while here at WDW, thanks to cancellations!

Good luck, Tiger :)

interesting, when I sent in a list of reservation to be made, the CM was telling me that all ADRs are linked to my room reservation number.

She went on to say that they would be making the reservations that I requested, but warned me that if I went to the on-line system and book a "conflicting" one at a different place, or too near the time of a prior reservation, that "it" (reservation system?) is flagged for review and posible cancellation.

could be just a "story" to free up reservations?

Hmmmmmm

Need some rum to think about this!!

I don't know grumpy, I just made a few on line adr's and not once did I put in my ressie number. In fact I made my reservation using my dvc points so I'm not sure how it would flag 'em

that is interesting, like another poster said, she go a message that SOUNDS like it is set up to allow a party to "split up" and dine as seperate places and times. Which makes sense, if you go with several adults in the "party" and want to eat at different places.

Hmm, since I did not make my own reservations, the automated system dosn't make you enter some sort of reservation (room?) number?

Hmmmm,

have to have some rum and think about that!
