online checkin timing

I know I can check in online, but what is the timeline? Can I do this 10 days in advance or 7? I've never done it before and I'm psyched.

Doesn't it just allow me to go to the online check in line, where theoretically all my stuff will be ready and waiting for me?
This means I check in online for BLT on Saturday, and for AKV next Tuesday!

It doesn't matter if you do it 3 days or 7 days or 10 days, the end result is the same. The room is not assigned at the time you do the online check-in, so there's no advantage to doing it 10 days.

FYI, there has been a problem for DVC members with split stays, the system wouldn't allow online check in. We have a split stay in April. And recently our reservation numbers were changed for our reservations. I'm hoping that we'll once again be able to do online check in. I still think it's a quicker process if you do online checkin and provide a credit card on the system. Because the CM will not need to swipe your CC, nor will they need to print the KTTW cards and the room assigned to you should also already be keyed to the card.

Another advantage is if you arrive on the ME or around the time the ME arrives then the online check in line usually is shorter than the regular check in line.

But if you want to pay for DDP using another card, even a rewards card, or ask for a different room, add more guests or remove guests, then online checkin doesn't save you time nor anyone else standing in line behind you.

Well I went ahead and did our BLT checkin today. I hope they go with my original request (higher floor) because there wasn't a "higher floor" request to be made--either lower floor, balcony, or a specific floor number from 9 up. I didn't want to be too specific so I just left that area blank, figuring the original request would work out.
