Online check in opens 24 hours before your flight. Is that right?

When you use the online check in do you have to print any documents off?

I have never used online ci before and my concern is that I wouldn't be able to get to a printer at that time.

If you are choosing seats, you don't have to check in with Virgin, you can just do it when you drop your bags.

There is also iPhone app that you can put loading passes on. I think, even if you check in online you still get a card BP at Bag Drop

I'm confused lol :confused3

I would have pre booked seats as soon as I can.

I don't have an iPhone. Does that help?

Sorry :hyper:

Because you are paying to choose seats at 11 months, there is no benefit to checking in online before, you can do it all at the airport :)

Thank you for dumbing it down for me lol.

Ah that's cool then. Like I said I have never done online check in before but I haven't had to pay to pre book my seats either.

Last time we pre booked seats when it was free , then when we got on the plane Virgin had changed our seats. We was told that if we did online check in that probably wouldn't of happened. This is the only reason I was interested in checking in beforehand, but I guess that now we pay for our seats they are a bit more secure? ( I understand that they can still change our seats in certain circumstances).

I think technically you are giving them another chance to move you, but I always check in really early to give me time for breakfast and beer lol

Checking in online doesn't require you to print anything.

I always check in online as you know you are checked in and don't need to queue at the airport as much as you can use bag drop plus you don't need to be there are early!

That's ok then, I'm not sure what we'll do yet. It's good to know that I won't have to print anything, I was concerned about where I was going to go to be able to go to print stuff off.

We are always ready at the airport super early anyway ( too excited!)

i just did online check in for my flight tommorow and it is good i did it they put me in a window seat hate those so i looked to see if i could change it since i dont want to pay over 100 euros for pre booking the seats on my flights and all is well i could change it to an isle seat

There is definitely a benefit to checking in online as soon as possible. If there is an oversell issue, the last to check in will usually be the first to be involuntarily bumped (rare, but it does happen).

At the same time, if you checked in late at the airport, you could find yourself bumped up to Upper.

this is still risky.
Airlines always can move you around the plane for operational or safety reason.

your seat is not locked in untli you've checked in, either online or at the airport, even if you've paid for it.
if you prepaid for seats and they need to move you, they'll just refund, and that'll be it.

If your flight is oversold, it's also the best way to be bumped on the next day's flight and lose one precious day of vacations at the airport.

Even if you are checked in they can still move you, but I get your point. I've never flown on a Longhaul that is anywhere near sold out as I always fly off season.
