Online Check In

I have heard horror stories about online check in in the past. Has anyone done it recently and what was your experience?

i'm not really sure what kind of horror stories there could be lol.

i used online check in for the first time in july 2014.

i got to the resort and walked up to the online check in desk in which there was no line.

they made sure all my info was correct, handed me my welcome packet, and asked if i had any questions.

i'm going on my first solo trip in just 10 days and i did online check in and i even opted for the direct to room option so i don't have to go to the lobby at all.
i should receive an email (i don't have a texting plan or i would have chosen to get a text) when my room is ready and i can head right there.

What horror stories have you heard? I haven't used it for the past six months but every time I've used it, it's been easy. The last time, we were checking into Pop Century and the line for online check in was just about the same length as the regular check in line. I was fully prepared to wait for a while but there were three or four Cast Members going through the line for online check in and once we were verified (with photo ID), our MDE was updated with our room number and we were good to go. Took maybe five minutes and we were about twentieth in line.

I have heard some issues with the MBbworking to open the door and that it can sometimes take longer to check in. That's all but that was some time ago so I figured Disney fixed that. Have fun on your trip. We are headed down for the 24 hour event and I am super pumped.

Don't you also have to plug in your MB pin to make charges?

its not your magic band pin.
its your MDE pin.
yes you have to type it in to charge things to your room.
you can create it during online check in or at the resort.

Wow!! Your opening post seems more severe than this.
We have done online checkin multiple times and been perfectly happy

yes they'll ask you if you remember it and if you'd like to change it.

personally i'm sticking with the same one because now its easy to recall.

Here now at BWV. I did online check-in on the day that I could. When the Magic Bands did not arrive, I realized that the info had been lost. I re-selected our MBs and they were available at the resort. When I arrived at the resort, they said they did not have a record of my online check-in. Then a couple minutes later, said that I had indicated that I would not arrive until midnight. Well, my flight were scheduled to arrive at 9:30am, and never changed. But that was a reason our room wasn't ready.

Having said all that, it was really no big deal, and we are having a great stay!
